An Exclusive Interview with Marc Marut from band Cool Ass
Today on our Hot Seat we have a very talented and inspiring music artist Marc Marut from Cool Ass music band. He has recently released a track titled “Fuck You COVID-19”. Let’s have a chat with him.
Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your music career.
Marc Marut : When I was nine I was lucky enough to break into acting by doing musical theatre, so I got to hang out with members of the
orchestra and I really learned a lot from them. As I got older, I spent lots of time in studios laying down vocals for commercials and TV shows. I also started taking piano lessons, but quickly got discouraged with my music teacher because she wouldn’t let me add any style. So that inspired me to get into playing guitar, and of course I was in a band in high school.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to launch band ‘Cool Ass’?
Marc Marut : A few years ago a song popped into my head that was so
catchy, it got stuck there for months until I just couldn’t ignore it any longer… and since I could already play some instruments, I set about recording it and learned how to do all the audio production myself. I was so pleased with the final result that I decided to share it with the world, and so Cool Ass was born.
Twist Online : Our readers would like to know more about the other band members?
Marc Marut : Right now it’s just me doing everything in the studio.
Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “Fuck You COVID-19”?
Marc Marut : I was actually getting ready to record some other songs at the time, when suddenly out of nowhere we got hit by this virus and everything changed.
Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Marc Marut : The response has been amazing! The song’s fun and has been getting great reviews!\
Twist Online : What attracts you more, Working in studios or performing on stage?
Marc Marut : I love both, but they’re very different. Working in the
studio requires a lot of focus, because you have to be a perfectionist. You can play around with things, and tweak stuff here and there, and only when you’re happy with the final result do you know you’re finished.
Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music producer?
Marc Marut : The sense of pride I get looking back at things I’ve done,
and thinking, “Damn, I did a pretty good job on that”. Honestly, I’m so happy people like my work and that I can put a smile on their face.
Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Marc Marut : I actually have a lot of songs already written, so I plan on
recording and releasing more singles in the near future.
