A Conversation with Dave August on his recent release ‘Worked Out’

We are sharing here our recent conversation with up and coming artist ‘Dave August’. He has recently released a single ‘worked out’. Our conversation is mainly focused on his recent release as well as on his music career.

Twist Online : First of all do tell our readers about the start of your music career?
Dave August: Well, I started to write songs when I was 15 at school and people used to think I was crazy doing it hahaha. Then I continued writing songs and in end of 2015 I started to post covers on my Instagram and I showed ‘Small Town’ (my first single) to my mom and she just loved and said “You need record it!”. I was afraid about it because I never believed I was a good songwriter or singer to make it as a career. I had other people who said “Go and do it” like my friend Victoria and then I did it. So my songs started to work out and people are liking it, people from other countries where I never thought it would be possible.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into this profession?
Dave August : I listen Shania Twain since I was a child, she was my first musical influence. I used to sing and perform her songs in Karaoke at home and when I grow up I started to listen singers like Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift who inspired me a lot too.

Twist Online : You recently released your second track ‘Worked Out’ tell us about that?
Dave August : ‘Worked Out’ is song about a relationship that I had last year. Do you know when you break up with someone and you try to forget it doing a lot of things that you judge as wrong? I did it! I tried to do everything to forget him, but all that memories scared me for months even kissing other guys, drinking… Things that never worked out.

Twist Online : What are the options available for downloading/listening to the track?
Dave August : My brand new song is available for listen and buy on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes and many more. By the way, the song reached #25 on iTunes Brazil and 2 thousand streaming on Spotify in two weeks. It surprised me a lot!

Twist Online : What kind of response your track is receiving?
Dave August : Well, I received a lot of responses about the track, both bad and good ones. Had people saying the song became an addiction for it and couldn’t stop to listen the song all day, people saying that I have a great future as singer and others saying that Worked Out is a shit, that my voice is horrible and things like that. I don’t feel sad with it, all singers suffer with these things and it’s a part of our artistic development.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite Music genre?
Dave August : Alternative/Indie and Pop Music.

Twist Online : What are your future goals as music artist?
Dave August : I wanna have the music as a job for me, I wanna live doing music. I wanna be contracted for some label someday and I’m working for it. I wanna make people feeling better listening my songs, I wanna make them to identify with the songs and know that they are not alone.

Twist Online : Are you working on any other new project?
Dave August : Not yet. I have a lost of songs wrote and I’m gonna start to work in the next single in December I think. I have a lot of projects in mind for next year, like an EP, but let’s see what will happen ’til 2017.

Twist Online : Are you active on social media? what’s the best way to follow you?
Dave August : Yeah, I tweet almost everyday. I laugh a lot there and always Dave August the followers. I have facebook and instagram too and I’m always there too!
