A conversation with Lawless and Lulu

Today in our interview section we have a multi-talented pop/hip hop/rap duo Lawless and Lulu with us. Let’s have a chat with him.

First of all please tell us more about yourself, how did you both meet up?
I was a single dad walking my kid into a classroom for opening day. She happened to be his teacher and I believe we both instantly knew we were hooked. A little flirting and a divorce later, here we are!

Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Iʼve always loved music. Grew up listening to Mötley Crüe, Guns N Roses, LL Cool J, Master P, Tupac and Biggie(of course), as well as Eminem. I have a large taste in music ranging from Chuck Berry to Led Zepplin to GNR to Hollywood Undead to Cisco Adler ha!

She loves the same and can really sing!

Tell us about your recent release Circus?
Weʼve decided that society tries to force a norm on people when we are all unique individuals that love what we love. Your morals and acceptance of life is something taught from an older generation and is their beliefs not your brains own unique beliefs. So circus is a way of saying weʼre different, weʼre entertaining, and we do things how we want regardless of anyoneʼs approval.

What kind of response you have received from the release?
Circus is actually our third released songa We are steadily growing interest from all over the globe and are making an effort to make sure we give people a band that speaks truth in their lyrics. We are thankful for every single fan and follower from the first one all the way to the newest. I do believe the interest is coming from our ability to speak about whatever with no worries of societies thoughts about it.

What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Weʼre looking forward to more on stage performances. We love to travel, We love to hear people interacting with songs weʼve written and we definitely enjoy the high you get from being on stage. Iʼm made to perform; donʼt believe me, then you can ask Lulu about my performance ha!

What’s the best advantage of working as a duo?
Itʼs more than just music to us, weʼre also a couple. We share everything together and I feel thatʼs what keeps us happy. Being able to express ourselves with each other and no judgment makes things easier. A lot of bands or groups need everyoneʼs input and has different beliefs on directions they should go. Not us, weʼre making music about our life. If I need to apologize for anything, I can write some lyrics, make a beat, and let her hear and put her take on it. Then we have make up sex and life is better.

Have you set some target to achieve?
We want to make this our life. We want to be able to go into the studio, make magic, and walk out knowing our bills are paid and we are using our talent to entertain people. Some of our songs are funny (though true) and some will strike a nerve (such as “Boy”)a But no matter what, we want to bring back real lyrics and story telling to the industry.

Weʼre both tired of the garbage on the radio. Time for change!

Are you currently working on any other project?
We are always working on something. Promoting, writing, creating, interacting. Weʼre steadily finishing our 1st record on our own budget. Itʼs fun, you know? If we thought it weʼre going to be an easy path, weʼd probably lose interest because everyone would do it. So between our music, family, side projects (hey I play guitar too!) there are daily projects with us.
