A Conversation with Mitchell Coleman Jr.

We are sharing our recent interview with music artist Mitchell Coleman Jr.

Twist Online : First of all please tell us about the start of your professional career.
Mitchell Coleman Jr. : Started playing at age 12 but professionally when I arrived in Los Angeles in 1991 doing studio work and working with various artist in town.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Mitchell Coleman Jr. : As a youth I was always inspired by great music, especially when it was bass driven. At that time inspiration came from Mark Adams from funk group Slave, Marcus Miller from work with David Sanborn,Stanley Clark and deeply influenced by Jaco Pastorius.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “Euphoria” ? and your Gravity release?
Mitchell Coleman Jr. : Euphoria( a heightened state of joy) with all that’s going on in the world today Politically, and socially this album Gravity is a Concept album reminding us not to lose sight of what’s really important. This great Planet, the wonderful souls that occupy it and above all to remind us that we are not a humans having a spiritual experience. But we are Spirits having a human experience.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Mitchell Coleman Jr. : People have told me that it uplifts them and lightens the modes. Radio Stations are really picking up on this Euphoria.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Mitchell Coleman Jr. : The two are very different the the Studio attracts me because of the creative process, like being pregnant with an idea and and having that idea revealed tangibly. The stage is where I get to share and see how everyone else enjoys my child of creation. But because the studio was where I started. It tends to be where I am more comfortable.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Mitchell Coleman Jr. : I love all music that is done well, but I tend to favor fusion ex. Weather Report

Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Mitchell Coleman Jr. : Yes, I want my music and its messages heard all over the world.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Mitchell Coleman Jr. : Right now working of videos for the Gravity Album
