A conversation with multi-talented artist Damian Redd
Formerly known as Redd Da Killer Bee (Porn Star, En Garde, Plain & Simple (Reprised)), Damian Redd has gone underground just to resurface with a game plan. Starting off by reissuing the seductive lead single “Caught in a Fantasy,” Damian Redd will allow the world to enter into the surface of his inner mind on the coming album, “Birth By Sleep: Genesis of Damian Redd”.
We are sharing our recent interview with Damian.
Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?
Damian Redd : I started in the entertainment business, officially, in 2010 when I recorded my first album “Plain & Simple: Reprised”. That year (and the next), I performed in a various showcases, solo concerts, and guest starred on a few internet radio shows.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Damian Redd : In my junior year in high school [2007], me and two of my former associates formed a Hip-Hop group called “TnT” [laughs]. We recorded three songs and had one performance before we split up. I just kept with it ever since.
Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release ‘Caught in a Fantasy’?
Damian Redd : “Caught in a Fantasy” was written by me and musically produced by Yonni (Trey Songz, Trina, Lil’ Wayne). He did three tracks on my album. The record is about a dream I had when me and the moon goddess had “relations” on the beach. The video doesn’t show that exactly, but I love the concept [the director] Rhys came up with. It was my first time working and meeting with him and Karmen, and Zo. We had fun that night filming. Some stories for the future, for sure.
Twist Online : What kind of response have you received from the release?
Damian Redd : A lot of people were impressed because it is my first official video and they didn’t know what to expect. Especially going by the content of the record. I saw a few write ups about the video and referenced it to the Valentine’s Day release. Which is cool.
Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Damian Redd : Working in the studio, to me, is more important. If the records don’t come out right in the studio, then they won’t see the light of day to potentially be performed on stage. I like performing on stage, but performing live opens the door for possible errors and I am a perfectionist. The stage is cool, but the studio is more important.
Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Damian Redd : My favorite is probably Pop. I listen to it more than any other genre. K-Pop and R&B comes next. I like a few country, Hip-Hop, and rock artist. A few.
Twist Online : Have you set some target to achieve as a music artist?
Damian Redd : With this album, just a growing fan base and some performances throughout the year. Going forward, international recognition.
Twist Online : Are you currently working on any other projects?
Damian Redd : My album, “Birth By Sleep: Genesis of Damian Redd”, will be out 2/23/18! Expect a few more singles following “Caught in a Fantasy”.
Twist Online : Are you active on social media? What’s the best way to follow you online?
Damian Redd : Instagram (damian_redd), Facebook (damianredd), and Twitter (omnymath).
