A conversation with multi talented “D.Pierre”

We recently had an interesting conversation with D.Pierre who is a versatile producer, songwriter and lyricist.

Twist Online : First Tell us a little about the starting of your music career.

D.Pierre : Music has always been in my blood and part of my make up. I started with dance. When I was a teenager I got to the stage where I was performing in shows around London.
My own music started when I was around 20 years old. I began with simplistic beats produced on Garage Band. I always loved music and slowly I started to put ideas together to tell stories through the music. I wanted people to hear and experience the emotion of each piece.
My aim is to make music that people enjoy dancing and listening. On a deeper level, I want them to be able to attribute each song to something significant in their lives and for it to have a meaning and relevance to them. Music can reflect every single emotion we can experience and I want my music to be that conduit.

Twist Online : What is your best work according to you so far?
D.Pierre : The best work from my perspective is Under The Rock. The reason being is that the track is self produced and it displays some of the depth and breadth of my musical influences.

Twist Online : Tell us more about your recent music video “More” ?
D.Pierre : More is about heartbreak and that feeling you get when you are let down by someone you care about. You do not want to let them go but you know that you have to. The theme is based of my life experiences but it is not about a past lover more like an amalgamation of my misbegotten youth.

Twist Online : What do you enjoy more.Production, direction, songwriting ?
D.Pierre : I enjoy songwriting more. A song with its standard three and a half minute duration, is a constraint within which you have to tell a story. That constraint is a snapshot so can be a feeling, thought, emotion, experience in the past, present or future. I like finding new ways in which to develop this and tell people a story.

Twist Online : Is there someone in the music industry you are inspired of ?
D.Pierre : I am inspired by Shakka. I watched his development from when he was doing cover songs and making it his own using his vast vocal range to the release of his first single.

Twist Online : what type of music you like ? Jazz, RNB, and Pop, Hip-Hop or ?
D.Pierre : There is something I like about all styles of music. However, in terms of what I listen to personally, that would be RNB, HipHop, House and Dancehall. I do also have a love of classical music which started from a young age because I watched Looney Toons. That is where it started to grow from and then in my late teens, I would go and sit in the restaurant outside the Royal Opera House where you could hear the rehearsals for the matinee performances.

Twist Online : What is your next goal to achieve in life?
D.Pierre : Finishing my EP.

Twist Online : Any new project you are working on? When it will be released?
D.Pierre : I am working on singles and my EP at the moment. Release date to be determined.

Twist Online : Are you on Social Media? Your fans would love to follow you.
D.Pierre : Yes. My links are:
