A conversation with multi-talented Daveed
We are sharing our recent interview with Daveed, a Honduran/English Hip Hop Artist, Super Producer, Sound Engineer and CEO of Lucid Music.
Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Daveed : What’s up everyone my name is Daveed, I’m 26 years old, I’m Honduran, born in England but live in Australia. I make my own beats, I write my own lyrics, I record and mix everything myself. I rap but the title of “rapper” usually comes in a box…so just think of me as a musician or an artist.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Daveed : The desire to be able to create and do what I love on a daily basis, inspiring the world and changing minds. The list of artists that continue to inspire me is too long to mention, but G Unit was the game changer for me as a kid.
Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “The Vision II”?
Daveed : The album is basically a loose sequel to one I released in 2016, that project was hosted by my best friend Pluto, who’s been in prison for almost 2 years now (but is set for release in April 2019). He makes multiple appearances on the new album over the phone from prison, contributing even greater this time around. I made this album to remind all of us that there’s a reason, a mission, and an end goal that makes all the pain, mistakes and heartache worth it in the end.
Twist Online : Any particular track from the album that’s your favorite?
Daveed : It’s really hard for me to ever pick one, that’s like asking me to pick a favorite child! But it would have to be between “Ghost Town” and “Get Higher”.
Twist Online : What kind of response have you received from the release?
Daveed : Honestly, people have been saying my writing and melody are on another level. Musicially I’ve been told the production is more spacious compared to my other work. And obviously more are starting to feel it because now I’m talking to a lot of different people about my work which has been very exciting.
Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music artist?
Daveed : Just being able to create with complete freedom and truly being in tune with yourself. To make great music and succeed in this industry you have to be in a certain place mentally, and I live for that state of mind.
Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Daveed : Well this year aside from releasing a lot more new music, vlogging and really establishing Lucid Music once Pluto is out of prison, me and my amazing wifey/soon to be co-host Destiny are going to be launching a Podcast called “Pushing The Envelope”, focusing on talking with innovators, free thinkers and open minds about every aspect of art and creativity.
Twist Online : Are you working on any new projects?
Daveed : I’ve got an album or two in the works, Pluto also has been writing for a couple releases he wants to work on once he’s out of prison. Shortcut, Fawkes and BCoz should be back in the studio this year too, so I’ve got a lot of production and recording ahead of me!
