A conversation with multi talented The Reddd

The Reddd is a singer/songwriter/actor currently living in New York City. His music underlines social issues, self awareness, and love. Originally from Denver, Colorado, he has worked behind the scenes in Television & Film, curated New York Fashion Week Presentations, and acted as background & stand-in for several prime time programs.

We are sharing our recent interview with The Reddd.

Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?
The Reddd : I started making music professionally when I was 19 with an entertainment group that was under a major label and I just didnʼt enjoy it.Everything about working with a major label made me
uncomfortable, it totally took me away from my creativity and inspired me to expand what I do artistically and get into acting and TV production. I spent a few years away from the studio, just writing songs and staying focused on my craft.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
The Reddd : Iʼve just been a music lover my whole life, and a performer, so it was always in me to
express myself that way. I used to rap and listening to it now is hilarious because I was quite good at it,
but that genre of music just doesnʼt reflect who I am or my path at this point in my journey.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “No Milk No Honey”?
The Reddd : No Milk, No Honey is my second EP Iʼve released on Spotify, Apple & Tidal, and the second EP Iʼve released this year. Itʼs so different than We Fell In Love In New York City, my first project, even though I recorded them maybe a month apart. Everything about this project just speaks to who I am now. Itʼs definitely fun, bright sounding, dancy, anti pop but itʼs absolutely social commentary. Itʼs a mirror Iʼm sort of holding up to society without society really realizing itʼs there. I try to go to a deeper place with my lyrics, I really want people to dance and have a good time but to read into everything, both in my art and in their daily lives.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
The Reddd : I have an inbox full of DMs, people just celebrating the work, and thatʼs a dope feeling. Iʼm pretty stoked to perform the new music in New York & New Jersey this spring & summer, Iʼve been dreaming about it a lot lately, like itʼs so exciting to deliver your art to people who want to hear it and vibe.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
The Reddd : Being in the studio is so dope because the way I create, I totally isolate myself and just give
myself a canvas and put everything on airplane mode and just go in. But being on stage is just the top life feeling for me. It rivals sex, no joke.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
The Reddd : I dig everything, lately Iʼve been way into chillwave, Washed Out, early Toro Y Moi, Sunbeam Sound Machinea Iʼm weird I listen to a lot of weird shit. I listen to a lot of Grimes, Lennon, Nirvana, Thundercat. Iʼm not into radio music, it sounds like noise to me.

Twist Online : Have you set some target to achieve as a music artist?
The Reddd : Never sell my soul. Be hyper successful, whatever that means, and to never sell out.

Twist Online : Are you currently working on any other project?
The Reddd : Iʼve already written the next project and Iʼll probably record it pretty soon but all of
my energies are focused on performing and shooting a ton of short films and videos for to accompany the music. I expect to have several hours of B Roll edited down and released by the time summer really
hits. Iʼm an artist and the art is the most important thing, packaging it in a way that people can really connect with.
