A conversation with music artist Why-Axis

Today in our Hot Seat we have music artist Why-Axis. He was born in Germany but currently lives in Dublin, Ireland.

Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?
Why-Axis : The start of my career began in my head where I had to envision myself as my favourite artist’s and place myself in they’re shoes, this wasn’t hard because I’m known for always daydreaming.” (laughing)
The music itself followed quite naturally even though I don’t come from a musical background I just felt this is what I was made to do.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Why-Axis : I’ve always wanted to be a musician, I’ve said it to myself since I was a young kid, eventually the dream started to slip because reality kicked in but as time went on I realized that no matter what, if I stayed at making music and creating I will get to where I want to be.
Seeing the people I’m surrounded by doing beautiful things that I’ve wanted to do was a huge inspiration to me and definitely motivated me to get into the music industry.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release?
Why-Axis : My latest release, “A Downtown Girl”, was inspired by the feelings I felt while dating a girl. Everything seemed so new and fresh and it was honestly a great experience. There was always this curiosity in my head about what will happen next while at the same time having this love rush bursting through me.
When you listen to the full song you get to understand that I’m speaking of just those first moments and that we very quickly grew apart afterwards.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Why-Axis : The response from the release has definitely been one of my biggest responses to date, the track was my first “official” release through my own YouTube and I’ve been overwhelmed with support from everyone, it’s really an amazing thing to see what happens when people come together to support each other .

Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Why-Axis : Creating in the studio is a great feeling that I just become lost in, time becomes irrelevant, responsibilities and people go out the window. I use being in the studio almost as a source of meditation especially when something is bothering me, I can go there to forget about anything.
Performing live is a different heard of sheep though but something I almost equally enjoy, when I’m making music in the studio I always think of the way I’m going to perform it so it’s almost a relief once I get to play in front of a crowd but I would need to say that the studio will always have the favor of my heart as I love to be alone and experiment with new sounds and idea’s.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Why-Axis : I will never say that I have a favorite music genre as I feel that is limiting myself. I try to explore a new genre or sub genre at least every month to really find out the secrets to its beauty. I’m always evolving my taste in music but if I had to give some form of answer I would need to say that the music I listen to the most is probably very early jazz, any sort of rap and slow electronic music. Then again I’m listening to ‘System of a Down’ as I’m writing this so I would say I have a broad taste in music.

Twist Online : Have you set some target to achieve as a music artist?
Why-Axis : Yes of course, I always set a target to out do myself in some way or form for each new song that I create, be it musically or marketing wise I need to beat myself because how else will I improve!?

Twist Online : Are you currently working on any other project?
Why-Axis : Currently I’m working on a new EP and am filming some music video’s as well which will all drop throughout 2018 so it’s just a matter of time right now!
Thanks again for all of the support!
