A Conversation with Shon P an up and coming Rapper
Sharing with our readers our recent interview with an up and coming rapper Shon P who is working on his first EP.
Twist Online : Please introduce yourself to our readers.
Shon P :Introducing yourself is always hard, I always get nervous like I’m at an AA meeting, but I’m Shon Pennerman but you can call me Shon P.
I grew up in the Bacardi Road area of New Providence, Bahamas. And graduated from C.V. Bethel before going on to COB to study Music.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Shon P : Music was never encouraged in my household as a viable career, but I’ve always loved it especially rap. As a kid I would listen and memorize every verse of a rap song and then alter it to fit my own style.
Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release ‘Bang’?
Shon P : Bang is a hustlers song. It’s not about gang or gun violence as the name may make it seems. It’s a hustlers anthem lashing out at all the nay sayers. It takes a turn to single out rappers locally and internationally who don’t take the craft seriously as Rap and music is my hustle my dream.

Twist Online : What kind of response it has received so far?
Shon P : So far so good, the reviews from various personalities locally and abroad have been amazing. The stats from royalties and fan engagement will have the final say though.
Twist Online : What do you enjoy more performing on stage or working in studios?
Shon P : A bit of both energy of the crowd really drives me but the dedication of the Savage 100 team while in studio is humbling. The ideas that flows during those sessions and the jokes and laughter make it worth it.
Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Shon P : Well I guess you didn’t hear me the first time. It’s hip hop hands down. I love music as on the whole as I play many instruments but rap and it’s culture has my full attention.
Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve as a music artist?
Shon P : I want to have my music heard around the world and bring back the legitimacy of rap. A few Grammy Awards and a few million dollars would be great as well but when you love what you do and you’re good at it those things will come.
Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Shon P : Well I have a few features for the summer coming as well as a US tour that my label is currently planning with Istandard Producers.
