Joining a list of Hip-hop/Cloud Rappers, $moke stands out with his touch of space and melodic choruses. Freedom of experimentation and positive energy keeps him focused as he gets ready to release his new project “$moke Nights”.

We recently got an opportunity to interview him about his life, music career and his recent release ‘Heart Beat’ in particular.

Twist Online : Please introduce yourself to our readers.
$moke :My birth name is Marcel but everyone calls me $moke. I’m from Phoenix, Arizona and I am 24yrs old. After winning the state championship my senior year in high school I went to play college basketball at Minnesota for 1yr, before returning home to pursue a music career. My moms been there the most to support in anything I do and I love her for that.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
$moke :I’ve got so many man but to name a few my dad of course. I remember when I was younger he had a couple singing groups,he would meet up with his boy to make beats and take me along sometimes to the sessions. He also made tracks himself as well I was always very excited to hear his new tracks he made when I came to visit every other weekend, so i think that planted a deep seed in me even i didn’t know it. My mom and stepdad also had a big sway on my liking of music as well ranging from old skool rap, funk, and classic R&B.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release ‘Heart Beat’?
$moke :My recent release “Heart Beat” is a song about some of my past decisions haunting me and just trying to stay sane. Reminding myself that i have the tools to do what I want with the proper motivation. So I made this song as a sign that I am moving forward to accomplish my dreams the way I want them to be done and no one can stop me even if they try.

Twist Online : What kind of response it has received so far?
$moke : The response to the song has been great 2,000 plays I’m glad people are feeling this one. It been a big postive for me as I recently have barely started trickling in people who ejoy my music. So Im going to keep tweaking, perfecting my craft to keep them excited and on their toes.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
$moke :Currently I have a single Im about to drop called “Real Ones” that’s going to be on my next project “$moke Nights”. As the days go by I’m just prepping my music and getting ready to put a great presentation together. I believe all my current fans and readers have something to be excited for in the near future. As some would like to say it’s “$moke Season”.

Twist Online : What do you enjoy more performing on stage or working in studios?
$moke :Everyone who knows me, know I do not say much. But when I make music is where I release all of that, I think it catches people off guard. I’m more of an observer than a talking type always got something on my mind thinking about the next move. It’s like a split personality almost I just rap how I feel at the moment and hopefully people get the sense of where I’m coming from.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
$moke :Hmm? That’s a hard one as I tend to drift from one to another for ideas and such. I really enjoy electronica rapper I’m not sure if that a genre and Rock some System of A Down, Korn, Papa Roach just to name a few favorites. R&B also has some strong ties on due to the caliber of singers you can choose from, they’re doing all kinds of crazy things now.

Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve as a music artist?
$moke :I’m going to drop 3 projects at least this year maybe more. I plan to get as much video content out to my fans as I possibly can this year. Make some awesome march and depending on how the year goes do a couple shows or even a small tour.
If possible I would like to do some in house performances as well.
