An exclusive interview with Brother Noyze from ‘The Legion Of Rhyme’ band

We recently had a conversation with Brother Noyze from the music band ‘The Legion Of Rhyme’ about the band and their recent releases.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to launch this music group?
Brother Noyze :
Mutual respect for each other as artists

Twist Online : Any particular story behind the name ‘The Legion Of Rhyme’?
Brother Noyze :
it is inspired by the fact that we have so many associated MCs, Singers and Musicians that we are affiliated with

Twist Online : Our readers would like to know more about the group members and their role in the group?
Brother Noyze :
Brother Noyze (Me) Is The Chief Producer, One of the MCs,A main vocalist for the hooks and Main Musician on the instrumentals. D-Cypl Is One Of The Beat Writers, One Of The MCs And A Mediator for inner group squabbles…lol, Lyrical Justifier Is one of the MCs, Resident cynic and Assists in managing the group. Juzt Jules Is One Of The MCs and The acting critic of the group. Finally the unofficial member of the group is A-Grace who sings on some of the hooks, Is an official A&R for the group (and it’s label Mindless Sound records,LLC), Artistic director and another critic.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “Egomaniacs”?
Brother Noyze :
Egomaniacs is the first single off our debut album “Legend And Rhyme” which is out now. It’s been well received along with the official video (which received over 5000 views in less than a month). We were pleased but a bit surprised by the response. People really loved it and we got amazing feedback. It’s one of my personal favorites on the album. It’s all about Lyrics and flow. It’s a know to the glory days of Hip Hop when MCs didn’t rely on gimmicks or the track to carry the song. It was up to the MC to bring the heat lyrically and with a tight flow.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Brother Noyze :
Like I said it has been an overwhelmingly positive response to the single and video for “Egomaniacs”. I even got hired to do another video directly because of the video. People were so moved by the single we had t-shirts done with the logo on the cover of the single. It’s a boom box. I think people miss the days when it was more about Lyrics and flow. I also think a lot of the new generation still love “Classic Hip Hop”. This is contrary to some of the supposed clashes between Modern Hip Hop Artist and Classic MCs.

Twist Online : Apart from performing together in the group, all of you have your own success music careers as well. What makes you stick together in this group?
Brother Noyze :
It’s truly due to mutual respect. We all value each other as Artists. We also respect each other’s differences. That means artistically, culturally and as people in general. Our group is very culturally diverse (We have ancestry in America, Africa, France, Guyana,Haiti, Ireland, Portugal, Brazil and Russia to name a few countries). Besides being band mates we do our best to be friends and a support system for each other.

Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve as a music group?
Brother Noyze :
We hope to get as much exposure for the group as possible and to continue with the buzz the first single created. We also want to do as many videos for key songs as possible. We also hope to tour to support the album.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Brother Noyze :
We completed a documentary about Lyrical Justifier a few months back and we hope to complete the documentaries on each member of The Legion Of Rhyme. We are also currently filming a full length feature film (the hardest part will be to work around Juzt Jules schedule… He has a lot going on). We are also still recording new material for future albums. The recording process is something we take very serious and it takes longer than solo albums because each member has his own process.
