Dr Ally K a family doctor by profession, talks about her passion and love for music.

Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.

Dr Ally K : I’m Dr Ally K, I am a family doctor, I have been a musician my whole life and I am kickstarting that career. I have two kids one has severe autism. I spent a lot of my childhood in Pompano Beach Florida but I am living in Toronto now working on music and saving lives!

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?

Dr Ally K : As mentioned I’ve been singing and playing since I was a kid. I decided to take a few years to get a good education and practice medicine and my close friend and colleague was murdered and a lot of bad things were  happening to a lot of good people and I decided that it was time to live my life the way I wanted to originally. To be a musician.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “Up, Up & Away”?

Dr Ally K : This is a six song EP of my music. It is primarily a pop album, A little taste of what’s to come. I have released a single off it called, The Best( Mean Girl) , an urban pop anthem with a brooding bass- for today’s youth.

Twist Online : Any particular track from the EP that’s your favorite?

Dr Ally K : I am fond of the title track Up Up and Away and I also like My Cue, which is seems to be less popular! They could not be more different, but there are excellent messages in both of them.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?

Dr Ally K : it’s been awesome from the very beginning. We’ve had over 35,000 streams from Spotify and over 17,000 listeners this month which is really awesome since it just came out.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?

Dr Ally K : I love pop, And I actually really love it when music genres are mixed. Like adding a rap section to a pop song. A lot of fun.

Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music artist?

Dr Ally K : Essentially being creative. It’s difficult to be creative as a doctor! I absolutely love writing music and seeing the positive response to songs that I have created. When people sing along to my music it absolutely melts my heart.

Twist Online : Performing on stage or working in studio, What attracts you more?

Dr Ally K : I love the studio. That’s where the magic happens, BUT if I had to choose:  I would be dancing and singing in front of an audience 24/7! There is no better energy than a crowd of supporters enjoying your creations. I am really looking forward to this summer where I will be performing in festivals across the country. It’s fun performing in Toronto as well.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?

Dr Ally K :  We are in the studio now, working on‘ Get Connected’ which will be a full length album. Also I am planning on releasing a brand new song, called ‘Monster’ and proceeds will go to The charity, “shelter movers”. My closest friend was a victim of domestic violence and in her honor  have written this song, Monster; an anthem for those suffering in domestic violence situations and my plea to them. Music can be a very powerful tool to assist others and stand up for people that are in pain. I used to write songs about my own pain, and now as I have matured I seek to be more of an ambassador for others pain and causes. There is a meaning in every song I write
