An exclusive interview with multi-talented Tre
We are sharing our recent interview with Brandon Adam Harrison who goes by stage name ‘Tre’. He is a rapper, record producer, graphic designer and music video director from Pretoria, South Africa
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Tre : Well it was more of a case of, it was the only thing I was good at the time, and didn’t really have much of a choice to do anything else with with my life, so music was my only option you know.
Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release?
Tre : Euro Trippin’, haha yeah that was actually my managers idea to do that, he needed me to release something because I was still busy working on my M.A.D album, and he was getting nervous that I wasn’t realsing and taking too long, so he had me put together something quickly, which resulted in a friend of mine, YoAnn from France, to hop on board and help me with distribution, which of course he was able to get it released to the whole of Europe. So my manager and myself got inspired by an old movie called Euro Trip, so that’s actually how the name came about for the E.P.
Twist Online : You must be happy with the kind of response you have received so far?
Tre : Of course, I’m happy that my career within this industry didn’t come up flop, so any response towards all the hard work myself and my team has put in to it, it makes us all happy and proud to have been apart of it.
Twist Online : Our readers would like to know what was your feeling during the Rapper Pistol JnR episode?
Tre : Haha well you know, I wouldn’t say it’s one of my proudest moments, but it was quite funny at the time, and it was crazy, I mean my entire team jumped in, everybody was watching this on the social networks, and my former manager at the time even went as far as trying to take this to a physical level, waving his gun around and what not, so it got escalated real quick, and its funny now that I think back to it, but in the rap industry, you have to always be prepared for something to pop off, and get into fights, I try to stay clear of getting into beef’s now, and getting myself mixed up within this crazy industry and simply stick to just making music you know.
Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music artist?
Tre : I will have to honestly tell you, nothing, haha there is nothing I could consider GOOD or BEST about being apart of this industry, it’s cut throat, it’s really so cut throat, it’s unbelievable, it’s really why I’ve distanced myself from being around alot of artists, and tried to form my own branch of where I can work without needing the help of others, because I tried it too many times, and it’s always blown up in my face, ALWAYS! You’ll always have that one guy who has to mess it up for everyone, because he wants to drink and get violent with you, or the guy that thinks you need to do everything for him, and eff your career and these people will use you man, like you don’t understand, the amount of torture I was put through, It was the reason I decided I couldn’t do it anymore in 2016 nad went quiet for so long, because everyone around me, I couldn’t trust anymore, and the people were starting think I was a liar when I would tell them, yeah I’ve done all this stuff within the industry, haha I mean not even my cousin believed me, but you know what, It has had it’s good moments, BUT nothing is really good when you coming up within the industry, it’s a lot of hard work, and you need a lot of dedication.
Twist Online : What’s the biggest achievement in your career so far?
Tre : Haha lasting for so long without my brand dying out amongst my fans. Haha na seriously I would have to say that my best moment would have to be an artist recognized by google and that I actually have been posted up on Wikipedia, I mean, that is truly something, and I hope to do a lot more with my career still, but I will need to see, BUT yes those two things have made me quite happy, because it recognizes me as a real artist.
Twist Online : What’s up next?
Tre : Well I have a new single which I will be releasing soon which is going to be featuring Blaeze, the track will be called ‘In The Bank’ so I will soon be announcing it’s release date, so everybody can look forward to me dropping some new music soon.
