An exclusive interview with pianist and composer Vincent Krennerich

Today on our Hot Seat we have Vincent Krennerich, a 21 year old pianist and composer from southern Germany with us. Let’s have a chat with him.

Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your music career.
Vincent Krennerich :
I never planned on pursuing a music career. I liked writing songs and someday I stumbled upon the opportunity to professionally record some of them. I really enjoy the process of composing, performing and recording, so I’m just getting started.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Vincent Krennerich :
There are some musicians that really inspired me (e.g. Max Richter), but as I said before: I kind of accidentally got involved with the music industry and I love to be part of it now.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recently released debut EP.”Gedanke” ?
Vincent Krennerich :
“Gedanke” is a very personal tribute to the calmness and beauty of nature. I wrote all of the three songs while spending some time in the mountains surrounding Salzburg – one of Austrias most beautiful cities. It was a phenomenal experience.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Vincent Krennerich :
I received a lot of amazing feedback. Many people told me how connected they felt to the music I wrote and I really appreciate that – in short, the responses were all extremely positive.

Twist Online : Any particular track from the EP that’s your favorite?
Vincent Krennerich :
Even though “Olivgrün” is by far the most popular track on the EP, my favourite piece is “Gedanke”, the title track.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, Working in studios or performing on stage?
Vincent Krennerich: I definitely love both sides. I guess, I like the process of songwriting and composing even a little bit better than recording a final version of a track. Deciding which version of a melody you want to record sometimes feels like cutting off the creative process. On stage you don’t necessarily have to decide in advance which version you want to perform, so (in terms of creativity) performing live is a little more interesting to me than recording in the studio.

Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music artist?
Vincent Krennerich :
To create something which hasn’t been there before, is the most beautiful part of making music. A great composition tells a unique story and enables you to escape reality for some time. To create those stories, is by far what I like best about being a musician.

Twist Online : Are you active on social media? What’s the best way to follow you online?
Vincent Krennerich :
You can connect with me via Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/v.krennerich/) and my website (https://www.vincentkrennerich.com/).
