I have always loved music ever since I found my grandmas old cassette tape and started recording myself rapping and singing. My parents were were always listening to different types of music artist from John Mayer to Nina simone. I have always loved anime and the opening songs were usually in Jaoanese. I became fascinated by music and wanted to create music people could relate to.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Melonabdell : I have listened to a lot of Michael Jackson, Childish Gambino, and Nancy. Those artist have inspired me and tell stories from perspectives that aren’t always told. I believe I can tell stories form the people who feel like they do not have a voice or want to hear something new for a change.

Twist Online : Tell us about your upcoming debut EP Titled K_Tokyo?
Melonabdell : Mup coming Ep is about listening to music to escape the realities of the world. Some times you want to turn off the world and all its bull shit for a little peace or just a bit of imagination.

Twist Online : Any specific track in the EP that’s your favorite to work on?
Melonabdell : My favorite is Small Town in Tokyo which is a song about finding peace with someone you love away from the world. I was depressed after a long day of work and I went to my improve class in New York and this Japanese women saw that I was down so she took me to little Tokyo in Nyc and it cheered me up. It was a different experience for me. when I got home I wrote a song about it. I shot a music video for the song that will be released soon and the video focuses on an interracial couple.

Melonabdell : I love working in the studio because It’s where my thoughts and imagination come to life. I can be anti-social at times. The best part about performing is that one person in the audience who completely understands your music and he/she is just feeling it. I also love the responses after a performance.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre??
Melonabdell : My favorite music genre would have to be between Hiphop and Indie Folk. The two genres have put me deep in my feelings plenty of times and still do today.

Melonabdell : This year I want to establish a solid fanbase. I also wan’t to put myself out in the world more creatively.
