An interview with music artist Verde Rose
We are sharing our recent interview with music artist
Verde Rose .
Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Verde Rose : … hey readers, my name is Verde Rose, formerly known as Vito Cartier. I’m a 27 or 35 year old artist from Panama City, Florida residing in Atlanta, GA. I’ve been in the music industry since 2014 and have built my brand to be known by some of the biggest artist whether they acknowledge it or not.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Verde Rose : That’s really a crazy story, for years I wouldn’t talk about it for fear of “jinxing” it in a sense but since it’s years after the deadline then I guess I’ll share it here in my first ever interview.
Not many people will believe this cause they don’t believe in anything but one day at a random church at the age of 21 a guest speaker prophesied to me and told me by the time I was 25 that I’d be “bigger than Tyler Perry.” I originally was angry that he was speaking to me so loudly, saying so many personal things about me in front of all of those strangers, but that’s one of the main reasons I took it serious, he knew so many things about me that I never shared with anyone else.
Long story short, from then on I had to figure out exactly how I wanted to bring that prophecy into fruition and was left with two option’s, to do it with music or stay in the business that I was in, while being a devout believer and follower of Christ and feeling that the prophecy would come true one way or another I decided to try it with music because the only feasible means of me obtaining that in my other business was being on the America’s Most Wanted list which I figured I was fully capable of by the age of 25 at the pace I was going.
Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “41”?
Verde Rose : I’m kind of hesitant to speak on this cause I don’t wanna say the wrong thing, but it’s about a woman, my queen (to be or currently). I can’t say which one it is cause we’re not 100% established yet, but I wrote the song in the sense of “wishful thinking” cause if we were to be, “for once” all the things I said following the phrase would be true. I kind of broke left with this release in a sense cause I’ve never made a song like this. I didn’t wanna do anything traditional as I’m not really a fan of much current music, so it has a dance feel to it and a 90’s sample, but it was written with the target of the more mature audience that still believe in love and aim to be wed someday. I hope you like it!
Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Verde Rose : I heard a few different things such as “good, great, fire emoji, top track” and the 17 or 18 comments that I received via Soundcloud. Aside from that, it’s been the only song of mine to receive thousands of streams, 4,200 to be exact but I paid a service for promo and they could have sent me a bunch of fake streams, you never know. Well, I don’t know but I’m grateful to have some real numbers on the board this time around. I’m still in the early promotional stage of it though, so hopefully if I ever get asked that again I’ll have more to say.
Twist Online : Any particular reason behind launching your own label ‘Chess Club’?
Verde Rose : Hell yeah, plenty of reasons but most importantly when I came in the industry I wanted to build an organization for all of the artists I aimed to be affiliated with to be able to have a network that we could all prosper from. One that we all pull our resources together and prosper together, as of now I’m not affiliated with many of them anymore, some of them had an issue with me being in charge of an organization while being younger than them. I wish I could tell you more of the vision, but I promised myself that I’d save all of the information for the top investor to hear first.
Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music artist?
Verde Rose : Mane, to be completely honest, I haven’t seen a “best part” yet. It’s been a bunch of bullshit since I came in, from most of the artist I met acting scared of me or just plain ignoring my attempts to connect with or work with them. I’m still looking forward to the good days of it and working my moves the best I can with hopes that one day I’ll be able to look back on all of this with a smile.
Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Verde Rose : I don’t really set many personal goals and if I do, I don’t tell many people what they are. Reason being, I work for God so my goals align with his own for the world and when you share his goals, Satan tries everything he can to derail those plans. But, my overall goal in life is success, just to be successful and take care of my family, until I achieve that I’m just out here!
Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Verde Rose : I have a couple projects in the works, one E.P. titled #CarpeDiem and the mixtape that 41 is featured on titled #HerHusband. I took a break from those though to try and push 41 some more cause I really want someone to get married and play this at their wedding but that entails me getting involved with a new group of people, not music people but event coordinator people and their own personal dj’s so I’ve been in the process of reaching out to them for different things with an ultimate goal of promoting 41. In addition to that, I still have my full length album #Lajit that I’m sitting on, it was released last year but was taken down from all sites due to some discrimination issues with the distribution company I was involved with at the time. I’m going to rerelease it eventually, but I wanna build more of a personal buzz first, that’s why I’m releasing #CarpeDiem and #HerHusband. I put a lot of time and work into my album and would prefer it be appreciated and received properly.
