Conversation with a talented artist Joel Christian
We are sharing our recent interview with talented and inspiring Joel Christian .
Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your music career.
Joel Christian : Well, I started my music career during the Myspace days. I would make beats on my computer and create a whole persona of pop music. I made an EP around 2009 and started touring and marketing it through social media. About a year ago, 2019, I started releasing new music that I thought was interesting and fun. It started getting more and more streams and I started perfecting my look and sound as an artist. Now I am making music again and getting ready to begin a new era of artistry.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Joel Christian : I am OBSESSED with eccentric performance artists. I love when an artist takes their visuals and sounds to the next level. I am always intrigued by the way an artist lives halfway through reality and fantasy because that’s the world they have created. I love artists like, Cher, David Bowie, Lady Gaga, Elton John, etc.
Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release ?
Joel Christian : My new single, Rise From The Grave came out last month and I’m so excited for it! It’s one of those tracks that just make me feel so energized but also so curious and wanting more. I wrote the track as symbolism or storyline to fighting with my anxiety. I wanted it to be fast paced and eery, but also feature heavy synthesizers, electric guitars, and dramatic organs to make it fun!
Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Joel Christian : I’ve received a great response so far to the track! It just broke 30k streams and has been streamed now in about 16 different countries. I just love that people find it interesting and also fun enough to play on the radio or in the club!
Twist Online : What attracts you more, Working in studios or performing on stage?
Joel Christian : I think both do in different ways. The studio allows me to dig deep into my creativity and imagination and bring something so small to life. With performing, it’s almost a release of excitement because your project is alive and people are reacting to it. You’re going from creating this special intimate project to now sharing it with the world. They are both very satisfying feelings!
Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music artist?
Joel Christian : I just love being creative and inspiring others to chase their dreams. Be fearless and be yourself. Love everything about who you are!
Twist Online : Have you set any goals to achieve?
Joel Christian : I’ve set a ton of goals and I won’t let myself NOT achieve them! Haha! I am very driven with my art and music – I will always keep going!
Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Joel Christian : I’m working on so many different projects right now! Within the next few weeks – a lot will be revealed! I don’t want to share too much cause that’s what I think makes pop music so exciting. The anticipation of the release, the unknown of what the artist is doing, the mystery behind the music…all of this is so special to me. I can’t wait for people to see it!
