Conversation with hip hop artist Zehero
We are sharing our recent interview with hip hop music artist Zehero. He was born in grand rapids but moved to the Genesee county area in Michigan when he was young. He also runs his own brand/label called Cake Fiend. He is twenty years old and just recently dropped his project “Spaced Out 2” which was a hit and got him sold out shows.
Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?
Zehero : Well I’m still on the come up and I still have alot of work to do. But recently I’ve been doing shows with the homies like Jackman and Bobby. The turn outs have been amazing. Some of the fans that’ll travel with us are awesome. Some of the shows were even sold out.
But it’s really good feeling that people are actually seeing me as an artist now.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Zehero : Well I come from a very musical family. I got people that are music producers and engineers all the way to people that just do it for fun like karaoke. But it started when I was younger we didn’t have alot and my mom worked 2 jobs and we just went through alot so when I was real young I noticed that whenever my mom was down she would play like her music that empowered her and motivated her and changed her mood. I just thought it was so crazy that music could effect a person like that. I make music because I know someone out there can sit there and hear that they aren’t alone. Make them think really. Also I speak for my brothers who don’t have a voice. Who can’t get on a track and spit out there emotions. For the ones who are dead and gone.
Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “Spaced Out 2”?
Zehero : Spaced Out 2 is just me all raw. My emotions in a certain point in life where I really wasn’t sure where I was going in life. I was couch surfing. But had to sold out shows with the homies jackman and Lakeside Visions, Cam Howe, Caskey. Got some radio play. I was also like skipping work to record songs and perform shows. But at the same time I wasn’t talking to alot of family. I just broke up with my girlfriend. My mom had kicked me out. It was a beautiful disaster all in one.
Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Zehero : The Best response I’ve gotten on any project. But we still have a lot of work and grinding to do.
Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Zehero : I love it all. But i think what I like the most is. After I finish recording a song and I put it on the internet. I’ll turn off my phone and wait 2 hours and then turn it on and see the comments and views and it’s dope
Twist Online : What made you launch “Cake Fiend”?
Zehero : Cake Fiend is not all me. I was blessed to have a really good friend in my life named Chad. He had cystic fibrosis. But we’d still go to house party and hang out and turn up. He was like the older brother always wanted. Well he wanted to make Cake Fiend into a clothing line. But unfortunately he passed away. Before he died he told me just to get some t-shirts pressed make his dream come true. So instead of turning it into just a clothing line I made it a whole brand.
Twist Online : Have you set some target to achieve as a music artist?
Zehero : Yes I don’t want to be labeled as just a rapper. I want to be a musician. I wanna know how to manage myself. Produce everything. Write the music. Do it all. Be the best I can be.
Twist Online : Are you currently working on any other project?
Zehero : TRAP R&B coming soon.
