Conversation with multi-talented Swapnil Tamboli

Today on our Hot Seat we have Swapnil Tamboli,  music composer, audio engineers, producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Mumbai, India. Let’s have a chat with him.

Twist Online: First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?
Swapnil Tamboli: I was into music since I was a kid. I used to spend a lot of time listening to all kind of music and playing rhythms and singing. From my early age, i knew I wanted to be a musician. When my parents saw my deep interest in music they gave me a guitar which became my first instrument. In those years I began to take my first music lessons. My music teacher told me if you want to become music composer you should also learn to play keyboard and how to work with DAWs. Working on his lead I obtained myself a Diploma in audio engineering to fully understand and utilize the technology behind modern day music making.

Twist Online: Who or what inspired you to get into the music industry?
Swapnil Tamboli: Initially it’s the music of Mozart which inspired me to become composer my self in my early childhood. Later there were a plethora of musicians and musical styles a lot of them to name which inspired me to become a professional musician my self.

Twist Online: Tell us about your recent release?
Swapnil Tamboli: My recent release “Shades” is a cinematic orchestral album. Which consists of 11 tracks from soft melodious music to hard-hitting percussive epic music.

Twist Online: What kind of response you have received from the release?
Swapnil Tamboli: I got really great responses from my recent release its nothing less than overwhelming.

Twist Online: What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Swapnil Tamboli: I am a studio rat. I like to spend my time in the studio creating my music.

Twist Online: You have also done music for films, tv, ads, games etc. What do you enjoy the most?
Swapnil Tamboli: Music for audiovisual media is very different and powerful way of communicating an idea. Music for visuals has always fascinated me. Over course of my musical career music for visuals became my primary focus.
I like how an alternate reality can be crafted using visuals and music.

Twist Online: Have you set some target to achieve as a music artist?
Swapnil Tamboli: My target to achieve as a music artist is making better music than yesterday. Maintaining the lifetime learner’s mindset. Trying to come up with something totally different than what I have previously created.

Twist Online: Are you currently working on any other project?
Swapnil Tamboli: Yes, Currently I am working on a new album of mine with piano and string accompaniment.
