Twist Online : First of all please tell us about the start of your career?
J Chamberlain : I started in the hip/hop/rap scene and making hip hop beats. My cousin who went by the stage name EA & I made an Album that played on our local radio station here in Houston. Although EA was younger than me, he was the one who taught me how to make beats. Mean Green, a local DJ would call me and give me advice. G-Man would play my beat, “just the beat” as he would do promos. It felt good to get some recognition. I had clubs play my music but a few factors pulled me away from the style of music I was making. My heart was leading me to something that was more for me. I was more of a producer/beatmaker. I didn’t want to put myself in a category as a certain type of rapper and I wanted a way to reach more a broader audience.
Twist Online: Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
J Chamberlain : There was always a love for music in me. I would sit for hours and listen to the radio. I just loved the way as an artist you can touch a person through your music, uplift them, give hope, or just give them party music. Just knowing that I could be apart of someone’s life in that way really inspires.
Twist Online : Tell us about your upcoming release ‘Stereo Life’?
J Chamberlain : My new release Stereo Life brings you some bass bumping energetic music. The vocalist on the tracks are amazing, the beats are explosive, and It’s a “must download now” type of Album. It’s a refreshing new age sound that needs to be heard. 13 tracks of what I call “That Sound”. Available on Beatport, Track It Down, Juno Download, Google Music and more. Stereo Life will be out on 8-14-17.
Twist Online : You also connected with Affluent Records CEO Oscar Sanchez for your new track “TELL ME”. Our readers would like to know more about that?
J Chamberlain : I was Honored when I got the call from Oscar considering he’s worked with top selling urban artists such as Fat Joe, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Method Man, Red Man, Montell Jordan, A Tribe Called Quest, Eric Sermon, Mobb Deep, Slick Rick, Q Tip, Foxy Brown and more. Oscar said he liked the way I produced the track “Into The Light” which is available on Stereo Life. We went with “Tell Me” for the Affluent release. The Knowledge that I’ve acquired from him about the music industry is priceless. I’m looking to move forward and be successful with the knowledge from our connection and make my mark in the music industry as well.
I think it would let any artist know their on the right track when a person like Oscar, with his resume
compares you to an Platinum Award winning Producer. Just lets me know where I’m headed.
Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
J Chamberlain : I would say the studio. The studio is the place where it all starts for me. I just like the grind to come in with an idea an make it come to life. To me the performance is the easy part. You’ve already done the work and you can truly enjoy the fans and live in the moment when you perform.
Twist Online : You use to have artist name Renzer II, any particular reason behind changing your artist name?
J Chamberlain : Yes, my manager told me it was a must. It would be better for marketing purposes. On the other hand, the “J” stands for “Jay” as well but Jeremy is my first name. Most people call me “J’ so it just fits better for that reason.
Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
J Chamberlain : Yes, of course as an artist you want to reach as many people as you can. So my goals is just to reach a broader audience and more people experiencing my style, the J Chamberlain style of music.
Twist Online : What’s the best way to follow you online?
