Conversation with recording artist duo and real-life brothers, Dasmeter

Recording artist duo and real-life brothers, dasmeter was formed in October of 2014 and combines electronic, orchestral, and brass instrumentation together to shape their super sweet electronic sound! We are sharing our recent conversation with heavydms from the band dasmeter with you.

Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your music career?
Music is in my DNA. The passion for music that I have comes from my parents and my two oldest sisters really. My parents and my oldest sister both had a ton of vinyl records that I would go through and spend hours listening to. My other sister was a total metal head and introduced me to the edgier side of music. I was probably the only kid my age that listened to bands like Foreigner, Neil Diamond, Corey Hart, Fleetwood Mac, Olivia Newton-John, John Williams, Julio Iglesias, Poison, Motley Crue, GnR, Judas Priest, Styx, White Lion, Ratt and a ton of other 70s and 80s artists spanning all kinds of genres.

With this massive library of music at my disposal, any opportunity I could get to earn money would usually go to buying blank cassette tapes so that I could make my own mix-tapes. Fast-forward 30 years, and I started tinkering with Garage Band and eventually graduated up to Logic Pro.

The rest is history 🙂

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to start dasmeter?
Dasmeter really started as way for my brother and I to collaborate for fun. He’d been in a few bands going back many years and had a lot of music experience, and I had been working with Logic for a while creating electronica. We thought I’d be fun to marry the two backgrounds and experiences together to see what would we could come up with.

Twist Online : You are real brothers, does it make things easier?
Absolutely, I have to believe that it does. We have a really tight knit family, and we’re both really candid with each other so there aren’t any misunderstandings.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recently released Album  ” Evolution ”?
Evolution chronicles the relationship I had with my ex-wife from vows through our life together, the turmoil, divorce, to the hope of new beginnings with the last track.

Twist Online : What kind of response it has received so far?
We expected nothing with Evolution to be honest. The reality is, we started into this because we have a passion for music, so there was never any commercial motivator.

The fact that we are quickly approaching 100,000 fans in a month is humbling, exciting, and completely amazing

Twist Online : What do you enjoy more performing on stage or working in studios?
It’s still early days for us, so we’ve not performed as dasmeter on stage just yet. Working in the studio is always great though! They say that you can tell that you love something when it doesn’t feel like work.

Twist Online : What else do you do when you are not making music?
When I’m not busy working on music, I’m spending time with my family.

Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Our goal right now is to see how far the rabbit hole goes with Evolution.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
We’re working on a few different projects actually. We’ve got an EP we’re working on that includes vocals and another full length album, so be on the lookout!

Twist Online : Are you active on social media? What’s the best way to follow you online?
Absolutely! You can find us on primarily on ReverbNation, Facebook, Twitter, and SoundCloud.
