Keyon Harris

Conversation with recording artist & songwriter Keyon Harris

We are sharing our recent interview with Keyon Harris, a recording artist and songwriter from Alabama.

Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your music career.
Keyon Harris
: The start of my music career came about 3 years ago. I was just trying to figure things out. Trying to adapt to a new surrounding. I quickly learned that I was going to have to work 4 times as hard to try and be half successful as a lot of these other artists. An I’m still figuring it out, but I have made a lot of progress. I won a Poze Music award for the best Blues Song this past February. So I think that I made the correct decision.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Keyon Harris :
My uncle inspired me to just go for it and don’t let anyone else tell me that I can’t do it. I have always kept an eye and ear on Gary Clark Jr. He is the man that I try and immolate.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release ?
Keyon Harris :
My latest release is called Needa Beer. It is a good song that everyone needs to hear. It is a song that talks about the current situation of our great country with the Coronavirus Pandemic plaguing everyone from all walks of life. This song here unifies what we all need and are feeling. Just relax and drink a beer. We all need one.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Keyon Harris :
It has been very well received. People really love it. I think that it is one of my best most consistent sounding songs.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, Working in studios or performing on stage?
Keyon Harris :
I love being in the studio the most. That is where all of leg work is. All of the fine tuning. Fun intended lol. You take all of your creativity and bring it all together in the studio.

Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music artist?
Keyon Harris :
The best thing about being a music artist is being able to touch someone’s life with your words. Inspire, motivate, uplift, and encourage. You open your self up to the world and share your inner most thoughts and feelings. An knowing that you were able to help at least one person do that, I call that a victory.

Twist Online : Have you set any goals to achieve?
Keyon Harris :
I set a few goals for myself. One of them was to a least get one of my songs sold to some distributers. Check. Then I wanted to gain a nice little following of fans maybe 1000 or so. I’ve more than doubled that. So check. An I wanted to get my song played on the radio. Well I have been getting regular radio airplay lately. So check. An I want to win a Grammy or 7 lol. I’m still working on that one, but I do have 1 Poze Music Award though and counting.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Keyon Harris :
I am getting ready to work on my new song called “GOOD,” which like “NEEDA BEER,” deals with the Coronavirus Pandemic. We are hearing nothing but bad news, and it is time for something good to happen. Some positive to focus on. Can’t wait to record it. Such a beautiful song.
