Conversation with rising African pop star Nattyva

We are sharing our recent interview with Nattyva. She was born in the heat of Africa. As a pop singer & writer, she brought back her warmth to Canada. We see her as the rising African pop star.

Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?
Nattyva : My greatest passion is Love and my big love is Music ever sine I was born and able to talk! However, following a dream of becoming a singer at a young age and in Africa was considered a waste of life. Parents and the society would not allow me to follow my love for music. It is not until after moving to Canada at the age of 14 that I started putting her hands on it.
I met a music producer, Nyasha, who noticed my talent through a friend at a karaoke bar, then asked if I write lyrics for songs and if I was interested in trying recording at a home studio. My very first song was recorded inside my bedroom closet for a “better” sound proof environment.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Nattyva :   I grew up in a very diverse community and music was how they communicated with each other. Music was the sign of happiness and unionization. songs were sand in different languages and though we did not understand the meaning of most of it, it didn’t matter. I also express myself better when singing and I feel a great connection I look forward in other people. I tell myself that, if you like my music, it means we have something in common, it means I can inspire you in a positive way.

Twist Online : Your debut single Dancefloor had won you the Akademia Annual Award 2016. That proved to be the perfect start to your career?
Nattyva :   Somehow, yes. Its results definitely boosted my confidence. In 2015, I was approached by a former record label, Roadhouse Records, to sign me as their artist, however the agreement turned out to be licensing and owning the right of my debut single, DANCE FLOOR. Roadhouse pushed the single in North America and Europe. The bilingual dance track was recorded in Toronto at the famous recording studio Cherry Beach Sound in 2015, and ever since it continues to generate listeners and helping me build my fan base.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release ‘NDAKWIKUNDIRA’?
Nattyva :   To introduce myself to the western world audience with a little background of where I am from, and also to engage the African audience, we produced and released NDAKWIKUNDIRA, a love world/pop song written by both me and a Rwandan based lyricist who goes by the name of Audy Salvador. The single is performed in my mother tongue Kinyarwanda and English. I am happy to say that the response we are getting is very pleasant. It is a track among many other from my upcoming E.P albulm titled “WHO SAID” which is to be released in OCtober 2018.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Nattyva :   I must say we are very happy with the response we are getting from our targeted audience. We are very excited to release the next track now that we are grabbing their attention 🙂

Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Nattyva :   OMG what a tricky Twist Online? Could I Nattyva with BOTH? I seriously cannot chose one as my 1st choice and leave out the other as 2nd! Let’s just say, each time I go to the studio, I offer to spend the night! And every time I perform, I don’t want to leave the stage. I become a different person. I act as if I perform daily but in reality I have not performed alot yet….really looking forward to doing so often.

Twist Online : Have you set some target to achieve as a music artist?
Nattyva :   First and foremost, I dream to inspire people out there, help them follow their dreams because they are achievable! Then I want to help them financially and spiritually 🙂

Twist Online : Are you currently working on any other project?
Nattyva :   Yes, always! As mentioned earlier, we are super excited to release the next track and I am currently in the studio recording the main track of the E.P, WHO SAID. I can’t wait to  have my current and future fans listen to those tracks.
