Ell Young

Ellevated talks about her love & passion for music

We are sharing our recent interview with Ellevated . Born and raised in Houston, TX as Ell Young, a biracial being who is also fluent in Spanish. Most of his tracks revolves around the stories of his own life. That’s why her work is very natural and inspiring.

Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your music career.
Ellevated : Officially, I would have to say that my music career began itself in full force in the summer of 2019. That was when I actually put my mind into dedicating myself to my artistry and seeing just how far I would go in my music career.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Ellevated : I have a few family members who have either did music in the past or are doing music now. However, if I had to put names to it, I would have to say my baby brother for starters, Ray “Ray Bandz” Jr. and my Uncle Terry. Outside of them specifically, my best friends have always encouraged what I put my mind to, and my children are always keeping up with my latest music trying to see when then next new song is available for them to hear lol, it’s actually the best part of this all.

Twist Online : You were in love with music since childhood. It must have helped you developed your music skills?
Ellevated : Oh goodness yes, I fell in love with Mariah Carey’s “Music Box” in the second grade, and I was already listening to all of Selena’s albums! Both of those were very critical in my music development because I was able to figure out how to write lyrics in spanish and translate them into english, as well as help me train my vocal range.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent work ?
Ellevated : I put my first EP together and released it late last year, since then I have released 2 singles and am working on my first debut solo album. I am very meticulous and do not want to release every piece of music I have completed. My album, just as my songs are personal reflections and emotional pieces of work that mirror everyday situations in people’s lives…so I am dedicating time to my album because I want it to flow smoothly and evoke emotions in every track from start to finish.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, Working in studios or performing on stage?
Ellevated : The introvert side of me would say working in the studio, whereas the extrovert side of me would prefer performing live on stage. They both bring about different sides of me and maybe because I am a gemini my birth lol. Being able to create in private in the studio is very special to me, there is a nostalgia that cannot be matched to that for me. However, on the flip side, being able to see people respond to my persona and my creation is pretty dope because it helps me to solidify that someone was emotionally tied to the song at some point.

Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music artist?
Ellevated : That people genuinely vibe with your music! Being apart of a saturted industry but literally still being able to stand out and to others…it’s amazing. Creating songs that people literally say “oh girl I love this!” or “This is my favorite yet!” is so refreshing and motivating.

Twist Online : It seems you love helping others yet don’t like to disclose yourself?
Ellevated : I have been through literally so much in life that I am resilient to my pain. Overcoming obstacles now is nothing that I am fearful of like I would have been back in my younger days. If I am able to help heal someone or make them feel better by disclosing my setbacks, fears, painful experiences or worst days then I have no problem with that. What I am not one to do, is just open and willingly tell everyone my personal life story because everyone does not mean well by asking about it and others don’t deserve to listen. As much as Elevated, the artist, is public, there are certain privacies that I maintain for the sanity of myself…the person I am before the artist.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Ellevated : Yes, I am currently working on my first solo album as well as music videos to some of the music I have released already. I am hoping to land some sort of theatrical role here soon from those I’ve applied to. So maybe you’ll see me on your screen one day.
