Exclusive interview with an electronic music producer and performer “Mr. Semmelman”

We are sharing our recent interview with “Mr. Semmelman” an electronic music producer and performer.

Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?
Mr. Semmelman : It has been a gradual process of the years. It started as more of a hobby and then it “escalated” 

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Mr. Semmelman : I did not choose music, music chose me. It may sound as a cliché but music has always been with me so why fight it? Rather than just keep the music within me I made it public. Music is always better if it is shared.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “Semmelmans Tema”?
Mr. Semmelman : I wanted to create a song to celebrate the very tasty Swedish pastry “Semla” which is eaten every year for, and around, Shrove Tuesday. It is such an unlikely theme for a EDM track. I like to make music that makes you think. If you think “what the heck is this?” when you hear it I’m very happy. I want to make catchy music you can dance to but also shake your world, at least a little. Since semlas (the pastry) is not very known outside of Sweden and the Scandinavian countries I made them to UFOs in the music video for the tune. The world is attacked by evil space semlas. Just like the music I wanted the video to make you think “what the heck is this?”.

Twist Online : What kind of response release?
Mr. Semmelman : Considering that the lyrics of the song is in Swedish. it has been a fairly big hit outside of Sweden as well. The lyrics are very short and simple and it is not important if you understand it, it is there for the way it sounds. If you get the message “Mr Semmelman” you understand what you need to understand 
At the moment the music video has over 115 000 views, and counting, on Youtube, and Spotify plays are steadily increasing as well.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Mr. Semmelman : I love live performances but most time is definitely spent in the studio. This is where the music is born and created. I also believe the music videos are important as well. Since the listeners are located all over the world it is great way to communicate with them. It would not be possible to constantly touring the world to do live performances.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Mr. Semmelman : I love all types of music and I use inspiration from all types genres in my creative work. For example, even though the song “Kling klang, it is Christmas” is designed as a EDM/Dance track its main riff is inspired by hard rock/metal riffs and the ending is inspired by typical Eurovision songs. The song “Semmlmans Tema” is inspired by synth music from the 80’s.

Twist Online : Have you set some target to achieve as a music artist?
Mr. Semmelman : World domination.

Twist Online : Are you currently working on any other project?
Mr. Semmelman : Yes, we will shortly release a new project, a slower song about a very serious topic. The last couple of songs have been happy and a little crazy. The new project will be different but it will sound like Mr. Semmalman, and it will make you think…
