Han Sino A Talented Musician and Poet
We are sharing here our recent interview with Han Sino, a France based musician and poet.
Twist Online : Please introduce yourself to our readers.
Han Sino : Hi. I’m Han Sino. I’m a musician and a poet. I do music since ten years now, and I’m a mellowman since a long time. My music is a kind of groovy psychedelic Nu Jazz. A mix between Rare Groove and Urban Music. I do Nu Jazz instrumental tracks, and sometimes, I also do Spoken Word Poetry music, in French.
I’m inspired by Afro American music, worldwide traditional or ethnic music, British Electronic music and electronica in general. My artist name is a reference to Asia, and more specifically to “Han” Chinese dynasty and its symbols… But the genesis of this name is a bit strange. It is based on a play upon word with a “title” that comes from west African language, and means, musician, griot or poet… literally “the one who has married the song”… That’s the originality of this name… But the key point is the reference to Asia, and to what’s Asian or Asiatic… That’s what matters…
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Han Sino : I have always had artistic hobbies… since my childhood. I began with drawing, then came writing and poetry… Music came lately, in terms of real creation… But I grew up with music. My teen years were touched by great music. I was really amazed by the style of Free Jazz musicians, but also by the rhythmic style of Hip Hop producers and Electronic Music innovators…I’m essentially self taught, but I’ve been trained by an excellent French Musician called Jade… A keyboardist and bass/double bass player… He has played with a lot o Jazz, Ethnic and Tropical music bands…I play like a child but I have a lot of creativity, and always new ideas…
Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “The Blue Shapes Score”?
Han Sino : I haven’t planned to do “The Blue Shapes Score”… But I’m happy of the result. People always tell me I should do music for movies…I decided to make a imaginary score… based on abstract images… I choose the theme of the blue color and its nuances, what can interpreted in a lot of different ways… The album is very groovy, one of the most groovy I’ve done. It’s an instrumental Nu Jazz opus with various sounds, sweet flavours, and soft vocals…
Twist Online : What kind of response it has received so far?
Han Sino : The critical reception is very good. The downloads are modest, but the listeners really enjoyed the music.
Twist Online : You write your all songs yourself?
Han Sino : Yes. I composed, create music and write the lyrics.
I play instruments, (in my own way… lol), and I do vocals. I’ve made a few collaborations, with some interesting artists… I hope I will do more collabs in the future.
Twist Online : Are you influenced by any particular music genre?
Han Sino : I love Jazz music, Jazz Funk and groove in general. I love ethnic and sacred music. I love oldies and great classics. I love
oriental poetry… Chinese, Japanese, Persian, Arab poetry… etc… Music is a way to express deep feeling that are beyond words…
Music speaks directly to the soul…
Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve as a music artist?
Han Sino : I would like to make my music known and recognized as a specific artistic approach… I want to be recognized as an artist
that have an original and poetic way of creating songs…
Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Han Sino : I have an album of songs that is coming… Something groovy, jazzy and soulful. There’s also an upcoming instrumental Nu Jazz lp…
Something more ambitious… Slowly, but I hope… Surely… I’m training myself to begin to do some live music on small scenes…
