
Interview with a multi-talented artist JJ McGuigan
JJ McGuigan is a VH1 Save The Music Songwriting Contest Finalist and mental health advocate. A drummer since age 13, McGuigan later picked up the guitar and began writing songs at age 20. He attended Newman University and renowned recording school, Full Sail University. Songwriting has now become JJ’s main focus and passion, with an emphasis on lyrical creation.

Twist Online : Our readers would like to know about start of your professional career.
JJ McGuigan : I started when I got out of college at 23. I just decided this is what I wanted to do and I felt called to do so.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
JJ McGuigan : Music has saved my life and I wanted to give back what it had done for me for others. I’m still learning about the business end but have great help from MTS Management
Twist Online : Tell us about recent work?
JJ McGuigan : Right now I’m working on a full length album with Brain Elwick. it’s very acoustically driven and covers a wide range of themes and emotions
Twist Online : What kind of response you have received so far?
JJ McGuigan : I’ve been fortunate to have received pretty good responses so far. No complaints which is good.
Twist Online : Do you need certain kind of environment to write a song?
JJ McGuigan : Not really, just something to write or record with, inspiration can happen anywhere.
Twist Online : Do you write song for other artists as well?
JJ McGuigan : That is primarily what I do.
Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
JJ McGuigan : Rock and it’s many sub genres
Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
JJ McGuigan : Finish a full length album and have my work heard by millions
