Interview with a talented guitarist Deniz Yıldız

We are sharing our recent interview with Deniz Yıldız a highly skilled guitar player.

Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Deniz Yıldız : This is Deniz Yıldız. I am 25 years old and I’m from Turkey. I have been playing guitar for 17 years. So far I released two solo albums and a single. And I won a worldwide guitar contest on Instagram.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Deniz Yıldız : In 2011 i started to listen Scorpions. They inspired me to compose acoustic songs. It was the most important moment for me. I was watching their DVD’s and listening to their songs. I was dreaming about being a guitar player, recording albums and playing concerts. Which started to come true last year.
Also Niccolo Paganini and Sena Şener inspired me musicially. Paganini was totally unreal. Hes skills was out of this world. He inspired me to play more classical inspirations both in studio and on the stage. And its also funny because Scorpions singer Klaus is 70 years old and Sena is only 20 years old. So i can say that ‘’Age is Just a Number’’ which is the opening track in my first album called Thrown into My Fate.

Twist Online : From where you have learned playing guitar?
Deniz Yıldız : I started to take guitar lessons from Mustafa Utku. I was 8 years old i think. I learnt a lot from him. Without his support, i couldnt be the guitar player that i am today. I cant thank him enough. Also while i was educating music in university, i had the chance to work with Gökmen Özmenteş and Ömer Yöndem. They made me a better musician. They helped me to understand that music is not only about the guitar solos. So when i look back, i feel so lucky about the teachers that i worked with.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release called ”Srebrenica” ?
Deniz Yıldız : Well im super happy for my recent release ”Srebrenica”. One of my best friend Juliana Wilson from Argentina joined to me. She is an amazing guitar player and a musician. Also she is a very good friend of mine.
We talk a lot about the life and also about our future. She is so kind and humble. Im very happy to know her. This song, I composed in 2011 with my acoustic guitar. And now in 2019 i had the chance to make the full arrangement. Hector Ruano(Bass Guitar) and Jake Naugle (Drums) also joined to me in this song.
I will never forget what happened in Srebrenica. And i really hope something like this not gonna happen again in the world.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Deniz Yıldız : My friends and audience loved it, Juliana’s audience also loved it. But look, Its also very special because you know Juli is from Argentina and I’m from Turkey. Our peoples are totally different but we feel the same with Juli. We are on the same point.
I think this is more important than the response we got. Sometimes its maybe about the numbers, but in this situation i think that’s much more important than the numbers or any stats.

Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music artist?
Deniz Yıldız : It is a hard Twist Online. I cant tell you the best part but the worst part is surely i cant sleep good. Everynight before sleeping, I play melodies in my mind, i think about my music career etc. And i cant sleep well. Sleeps are not my friend.

Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Deniz Yıldız : Right now my only goal is to do what i want to do musically. I don’t set higher goals because I don’t think its in my hand. So as long as I enjoy making music, i will keep doing this. Its not about the desire of being the best or chasing the number one.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Deniz Yıldız : Yes ! I am working on my solo album now. Its gonna be called ”Lost My Role”. Its gonna include 10 instrumental tracks. Most of them with acoustic guitar. I really really hope to release it in 2019. I already finished some of the tracks. But i just want to go slowly because i want to make it peRFect.
