Today on our Hot Seat we have rapper/singer B.rod Bank with us. Let’s have a chat with him.
Twist Online : First of all introduce yourself to our readers?
B.rod Banks : I’m B.rod Banks, I’m from Lincoln heights, Ohio a small village outside of Cincinnati… it’s still considered Cincinnati but we got a lot of pride in where we come from so I make sure I mention the zone first. I started singing early, like at about 5 years old because my pops wanted us to be doing something constructive & not just in the house, so me & all my brothers & sister sung in the choir & that went on for many years. That kinda lead me to music & it just progressed from there. Church choir lead to school choir. School choir lead to me doing music every single day, I even had concert choir where you have to come to school a hour early just to sing. I loved it, I felt apart of something in the school choir. Church choir I wasn’t so fond of, we sung the same songs over & over .. no real vocal training it just wasn’t ideal once I started learning how to actually make music. Eventually I got hip to rap music around 5/6 grade when lil Wayne was piping hot dropping the carter 1 & 2 & a lil later he introduced me to drake & I fell in love with the music, my dad had always shown me old school rappers like digital underground, heavy d, singers like Bobby brown Michael Jackson, new edition & I already loved their edge but when I heard that raw uncut rap I was in love, I felt like that was me. So me & my lil bro Jaylee started making music & we worked small jobs to get some music equipment. Just a usb mic to go in our laptop & mixer craft … we didn’t have any idea what we were doing but we started to make songs in like 8/9 grade, we would burn cds our laptops the night before school with the songs & take them to school & that’s how we gained a buzz.. & the rest is history
Twist Online : You had a rather rough early phase of life, what kind of impact it has on your music?
B.rod Banks : My rough face has everything to do with my music, it made me who I am it crafted the type of heart I have it made me more aware of things that we’re going on in the world. & it really made me depend solely on my music to get through shit , it’s like my therapist & my goal post to show me my progress in life.
Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release No Politics?
B.rod Banks: so no politics is a song from like a 30 day stint I went of recording non stop day & night just locked in & that song stuck out a lot to me from the batch because of it real ness & over all message of just no bullshit, lets skip the politics & get down to what’s really going on.
Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
B.rod Banks : the responses have been great every since I previewed it on Instagram, people have been sending me dms asking me to drop it so I dropped it. Once I put it on streaming services the numbers looked so good I said why not do a visual so a visual should be out by the time this interview is out.
Twist Online : What attracts you more, Working in studios or performing on stage?
B.rod Banks : I love both, I feel like they are both necessary crafts & I love to get better at both & watch my growth in both over time!
