Interview with an up and coming artist Benji
Today on our Hot Seat we have an up and coming artist Benji who has recently released his debut single “Little Love” feat. Crissi Cochrane.
Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Benji : I’m Benji. I’m a small town kid from south-central Alaska who’s itching to make music. I recently moved to Los Angeles to get the ball rolling.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Benji : I’ve always loved music, both experiencing and creating. I’ve always been inspired by the songwriting style of Sara Bareilles — I would say she’s influenced me more than anyone.
Twist Online : Tell us about your recently released debut single “Little Love” ?
Benji : Little Love is a track that I think a lot of us can relate to. It’s about making a little investment in someone and realizing after the fact that you’d fallen much harder than you’d thought — the absence of that connection is everywhere you turn.
Twist Online : Track also features Crissi Cochrane. How was your experience working with her ?
Benji : Crissi is a gem. She’s been so helpful to me over the past couple of years. She’s eager to lend advice when I’m searching for my next step in music.
A little fun fact is that Crissi and I have never officially met in person — I’ve got Instagram to thank for this lovely collaboration.
Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Benji : I think people are receiving it well. I’ve had several people reach out to let me know it was exactly how they were feeling in their post-breakup blues.
Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Benji : They’re such different animals. I love the creative process of working in a studio, but there’s an undeniable intoxication that comes with sharing your music live
Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Benji : This question is as impossible to me as asking who is my favorite Golden Girl.
I have such a heart for Folk as I sit and drink coffee back home in Alaska, but I would say you’d more quickly find me listening to an Indie Dance vibe as I’m driving around Los Angeles.
Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Benji : I think my biggest aspiration is headlining Ice Stock Festival in Antarctica someday — this is a real goal of mine, written in every journal I’ve kept.
Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Benji : I’ve got a couple more singles in the works with some really fun collaborations. I’ve also teamed up with DJ Hi5 for a Little Love Dance Remix dropping September 7th.
