Interview with an up and coming rapper Dapper Dev

Today on our Hot Seat we have a young and talented rapper and songwriter Dapper Dev with us. Let’s have a chat with him.

Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Dapper Dev : Wassup everybody, I go by the name of Dapper Dev and I’m an up and coming rapper/songwriter coming out of metro Atlanta

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into the music industry?
Dapper Dev : I like to call myself an artist at heart. I find myself attracted to anything that has to do with expressing my thoughts, moods, and/or ideas, and music is just one of my many canvases. I always felt like I could make my own music but I didn’t give it a real try until maybe early 2017. I made my first song with my friend Greg and dropped it on soundcloud. People was f***in’ with it, so I just kept going. As far as who inspired me musically, I would say Skooly. Sonically, he really did a lot for me growing up.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “OTW”?
Dapper Dev : OTW is different. It’s my first R&B type song. I remember I just woke up one morning and the melody I used on the hook was just stuck in my head, so I decided to put it into words and from there on I knew I was onto something. It probably took me about 4 or 5 hours to make, because I was learning how to mix while making it, so I got very focused and meticulous with this one. You can stream it now on all major platforms.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Dapper Dev : Well before I released it I sent it out to a few of my potnas that I knew would tell it to me straight, and they all was digging it. Then I sent it out to a few females, because it’s an R&B song so if the ladies not messing with it, what’s the point ya know. The response was good so I dropped it and it has done the most numbers I ever did on a song. Very well received, and I’m thankful to everyone who streamed and shared it for me.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Dapper Dev : Definitely rap and R&B but I can rock with country or pop from time to time lol. I really can rock with any genre as long as it’s good music

Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music artist?
Dapper Dev : Definitely making the music and seeing it come to life. It’s just so fun making a song and the feeling you get when you know you got a good one, it’s like no other. Also one of the best parts about it, from what I can say, is the love and feedback you get from real supporters. It’s like ‘damn yall really f***in with the kid huh’ lol.

Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Dapper Dev : I mapped out how I plan on further establishing myself this year, because I feel like I still got a lot to build on, like I’m nothing right now compared to what I can be. But I would say my main goal now is to gain a big enough audience to start really earning profit off of my music because then I know I’m on to something, and that I’m not just wasting my time. It’s an investment for sure, a lot of time, money, and energy goes into this.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Dapper Dev : Yes I am planning on dropping my first project in July. I’m going HARD for this one, I’m already saving up to support it. I’m 100% independent so everything I’m doing, I mean EVERYTHING, to support my music career is all me. All my ideas, artwork, money, marketing strategies, all of it, ME. I’ll probably drop one more single to build up anticipation for it so definitely be on the lookout for that.
