Interview with Andre from Virra Marketing
We are sharing our interview with Andre, the head of Marketing and Co-Founder of Virra Marketing
Twist Online : First of all, please introduce yourself to our readers.
Hello, my name is Andre. I’m the Head of Marketing at Virra Marketing, a music marketing startup founded in June 2017 with one goal: to help artists and organizations find their ideal audience online. For the last seven years I’ve worked to master as many aspects of digital marketing as possible while serving those around me. I’ve spent time at a number of startups and worked with almost 100 clients to help them with their marketing strategy and even grew a few of my own brands by thousands of followers.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into the music industry?
Andre : When my team and I founded the company as part of a summer program at MIT, we had the opportunity to walk around the streets of Cambridge and Boston. During our time there, we saw dozens of artists and musicians and even had the chance to talk to a few of them about the struggles they face on a daily basis. Marketing ranked pretty high on the list, giving us an indication there was potential to solve this problem and build a company around it!
Twist Online : What was the motive behind launching Virra Marketing?
Andre : It was always to serve what we saw as a neglected market and help musicians and artists grow as effectively as possible. We understand how difficult marketing can be, and we want to apply the knowledge and skills we have to help musicians focus on what they love: making great music!
Twist Online : What exactly are the services you are providing to the artists?
Andre : We offer Spotify, Instagram, YouTube, and Soundcloud promotion. Our prices are meant to be indie-friendly. Here’s a link to out services on our website! Check it out!
Twist Online : What kind of response you have received so far?
Andre : We’ve worked with 70 artists in genres ranging from folk to reggae. Many of our clients renew and often come back for several campaigns because of how happy they are with our service. We’re always striving to use the most up-to-date marketing tactics to promote our clients.
Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
We’re currently focused on expanding as much as possible and testing as many mediums as possible to grow the audience of our clients. We’re hoping to cross 100 clients by the end of August 2019 and we’d like to help at least 10 of our clients cross 100K monthly listeners on Spotify.
Twist Online : What are some of your key projects you are working on?
We’re currently working to establish our company-wide marketing initiatives to expand our reach as company. We’re also experimenting with a number of new promotion mediums including YouTube advertising, Spotify advertising, and Facebook advertising.
We’re looking to build relationships with partners that can help us connect with independent artists around the world. Some of these include producers, record labels, and music channels.
We just finished our first month testing Facebook and have already helped over a dozen artists get their first 10K monthly listeners!
