Interview with Darryl Adkins A.K.A Addy

We are sharing our recent interview with music artist Addy.

Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Addy : Hi, I’m Darryl. My stage name is Addy and I’m a 16 year old rapper from Phoenix Arizona

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Addy : Ever since I was a young kid I always really felt connected to music, Mostly old school rap and hip hop. Growing up I was very much inspired by west coast rappers such as Dr. Dre, Snoop, Pac. Etc. But ultimately had a love for everyone in the genre regardless of who they are.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release “Vacation”?
Addy : Vacation is THE song for me. It’s the first time I’ve ever made something and really thought to myself I have something great here, Me and my best friend Blessy wrote the song together one night after hanging out and freestyling. Eventually we got a hook and from there the song took form and vacation was born.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Addy : The response to vacation since release has been nothing but great. There has been a few haters here and there but ultimately everyone who hears it likes it or loves it and that’s all that matters. I have people coming up to me in public places telling me they cant get it out of there heads and that alone feels amazing. We even submitted it to this months Worldstar Hip-Hop competition and we held #3 on the leaderboard for a5 week or so.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Addy : This question is a tough one because I really love all music in general, I think all of it has it’s own artistic values. But if I had to choose 1 it would have to be Rap/Hip-Hop, Because it has had the most impact on my life.

Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music artist?
Addy : To me the best part of being a music artist is the fans. Theres no way to explain the feeling I get when someone I’ve never met before comes up to me and tells me I’ve had some sort of impact on them or I’m someone they enjoy. And none of that would be possible without my music career.

Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Addy : Yes, I’ve set many goals for myself not only for my music but also for me. And starting this year I’m going to be going harder in the studio and making more dope tracks for all yall to enjoy. One of my goals is to do more concerts and start branching out to more than just here in PHX, AZ.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Addy : Currently me and Blessy are working on some new tracks together. However the big one titles Up There will be releasing around April or May, Havent quite figured out a day yet. But all I can really say is the song is gonna top vacation for sure and its definitely something that will get stuck in your head and I’m sure most who hears it will enjoy it very much.
