Interview with multi-talented DeAndre
Today on our Hot Seat we have musician, singer- songwriter and producer DeAndre with us. Let’s have a chat with him.
Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?
DeAndre : I could say that my professional career started in Junior high, that’s when I knew that I wanted to pursue a career as a musician. I could put my hardships in fears into word and construct lyrics, combined with a good feel for tunes. It is now that all puzzle pieces are falling in place and getting the things done to take my musical skills on to a professional platform.
Twist Online :Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
DeAndre : Artists like Drake, Kayne West, and Jay-Z inspired me, but what inspired me the most was the work of J. Cole. My friends encouraging my talent is also something that was inspiring, but sharing my work with people that can relate to my stories is why want to get into the music industry.
Twist Online :Tell us about your recent release?
DeAndre : My recent release is called Favors Ft N.A.P. and is about friends, meeting new people and the everyday things of life that is involved with having friends and meeting new people. Favors is available on iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon, and many other platforms and of course on my website. It’s being received very well and some of the review are truly heartwarming.
Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
DeAndre : I received a lot of positive responses on the release of Favors. Some talked about my voice, the tune, the music, the rhythm, the production, and about my message, all in all very positive reactions.
Someone wrote this about Favors: I really, really like this song. The rapper has a unique approach and style to his music which I enjoy. I like that it’s not a typical rap beat and has more of a lo-fi, indie electronic beat. The singer has a good voice that it’s clear and versatile enough for the industry right now. Now, a lot of people don’t care for riffs or large range; it’s more about presence and clear strong voices that are unique. This song is definitely unique. I would listen to this a lot. It gives me good vibes. It has a different message than most songs nowadays, too.
Twist Online :What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
DeAndre : Performing on stage has a different energy to it than working in a studio, I love doing both. On stage I can showcase the results from the studio.
Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
DeAndre : Hip hop is obviously my favorite music genre. I grew up with hip hop and is something I can relate to.
Twist Online :Have you set some target to achieve as a music artist?
DeAndre : Yes, now I’m promoting the release of Favors, and the next target is shooting a music video. I work closely with my media strategist and we try to stay on top of how we’re doing online. It’s important to set achievable targets as a musician.
Are you currently working on any other project?
DeAndre : Favors is part of my new album I’m working on, called Lost In The Details. More about that will follow soon. I’m also working on my brand DeAndre4Stackz and a merchandise line and on my record label SubCulture Records.
