Interview with multi-talented hip-hop artist Zigg

It’s rare to find an artist with both age and wisdom on his side. Jaron Grant, better known as Zigg Theartist, is a multi-talented hip-hop artist from Philadelphia, PA. Described as a natural talent and a work horse, Zigg is very inventive and true to making music that moves his soul instead of following what other artists are doing at the moment. He is very persistent and tenuous to reach his goal of becoming a successful artist.

We recently interviewed him for our magazine. Sharing it with our readers here.

Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your music career.
Zigg :
Starting off I was just a beat maker, I loved playing the piano. I wasn’t even good at rapping for real, but overtime I started to get better, started taking things serious. My first mixtape was recorded out of my room, it was called “2 faces”. Pretty much meaning I wore two different hats, I sang as well as rapped. Long story short I got a manager, we went on tour, and through that creates the man you see today .

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Zigg :
I always had love for music, it was just something I did, but the artist that really made me be like , damn I want to be like that, it was Lil Wayne. Until this day he still amazes me with word play and creativity, you really have to listen to a song of his at least 5 times before catching everything, it’s quite amazing

Twist Online : Tell us about your recently released music video ‘Mixy” ?
Zigg :
Man, where do I start? So far as all the production, writing, the beat, pretty much everything, I created it. Mixy is a single from my upcoming album “Juice & Condoms” and it was inspired by a performance I had in Ohio,. It was super lit, a lot of love and just fun! I cooked that up on our way back on the road. As far as the visual I wanted it to be different, I wanted to basically have a Photoshoot/Videoshoot Something to show we in the “mix” . Got some dope models, and we basically just went in and snapped lol.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Zigg :
So far so good. The video was shot and edited by my brother and my camera man Treion Waiters, and everyone is loving the visual and song right now. I get the most compliments on the beat, and that’s cool because my main focus was to create something that don’t sound like your typical daily hip hop song, if that make sense.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, Working in studios or performing on stage?
Zigg :
Performing by far! Being in the studio is cool and it’s fun but when you create something and get to show what you created to a massive audience, there’s no better feeling, having people sing the song with, having fans be hype just to see you do what you do best, nothing beats that.

Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music artist?
Zigg :
Touring, visiting different cities, meeting new people, working with creatives like yourself, and just being able to appreciate the talent all over the world.

Twist Online : Have you set any goals to achieve?
Zigg :
I set a new goal everyday, but as far as musically, I just want to win a Grammy. I don’t care to be a super mega star or anything like that, but to have that acknowledgement of a Grammy, it kind of puts you in a class of elites .

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Zigg :
my new album is coming soon, it’s called “Juice & Condoms” I’m looking to have about 10 tracks on it, 5 rap songs and 5 Rnb tracks. Give the fans a daily dose of dopeness . I’m still working on it but as of now I’m 8 songs in, but maybe record more so I can pick and choose what to release and what to keep
