Interview with multi talented KayeCee Austin
Today on our Hot Seat we have a multi-talented artist KayeCee Austin with us. Let’s have a chat with her.
Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
KayeCee Austin :
I’m KayeCee Austin. I’m passionate about anything that involves creating so in addition to being a Vocalist, I am also a Music/Vocal Producer/Songwriter/Speaker/Author/Podcast Host/Blogger and Retired Army Veteran.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
KayeCee Austin : I was inspired to enter the music industry due to my parents. My mother was a international vocal recording artist from the early 80s. Her genres were Inspirational Soul/Disco/Funk. She performed and influenced in Nigeria, the UK and the Middle East. Additionally, my father is a music producer and independent label owner.
My Mother Marcy Luarks was one of the most awesome and inspiring women I ever met!
She started her life as a young brown girl from Kansas with a dream to make a difference on an international level.
At an early age she became a missionary and traveled to Africa where her music career began. With the motivation and belief in her from Dan Irabor, her producer and my Father- they started a movement of unity that touched many that it reached both in Africa, the Middle East and the U.K. in the early to late 80s.
My love for music, performing and music production originated from the amazing way they both worked as a team to make a difference–using music to do so.
Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release?
KayeCee Austin : My recent release is interesting due to the fact that although I have been in the music industry for over 20 years this is going to be my first musical project that focuses on me as an artist. Many who know me know me as a music and vocal producer, arranger and songwriter.
This project has been a long time coming and I am truly blessed for everyone who has truly supported it and continues to do so.
My current project is partly a musical legacy tribute to my mother as well as a coming out project for myself. The project is titled: “That Girl From Kansas”. The state of Kansas is my home state as well as my Mother’s (before her recent passing in 2014) as I mentioned above.
Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
KayeCee Austin :
I have received so much support, love and encouragement. Especially from friends, family and colleagues due to the fact that I have been so focused most of my life on helping others fulfill their musical, artistic and creative dreams. Many of my friends encouraged me and stated that it was finally my time to do what I’ve always been passionate to do–which is vocal performing.
Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
KayeCee Austin : To be honest, both performing and studio recording are equally as cathartic and rewarding to me. I enjoy and take pride in both due to the fact that the listener of a musical recording may receive a different musical experience from me than someone who is a patron of one of my shows. I believe in giving them both equally amazing experiences although it may be two different mediums.
Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
KayeCee Austin : My current goal is to enjoy life to the fullest and give this project and my supporters everything that I have!
