Interview with R&B Artist JustReal
Bronx New York bases artist JR (JustReal) who calls himself “Mr. R&B”, began singing in the church at age 7. However, it wasn’t until age 17 that he began to lean towards the R&B field.
JR has two mixtapes, “The Abolishment II: The Graduation” 2012 and “Thoughts Of The Heart: The Transition” 2014 (both available on www.datpiff.com). He is in the process of working on his 3rd project titled “Reality Check” (his first under ICMG/2 Deep).
We are sharing here our recent interview with him.
Twist Online : Please introduce yourself to our readers.
JustReal : JR JustReal, R&B Artist, from the Bronx NY
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
JustReal : Just my love for music itself inspired me. Music allowed me to express myself in ways actual words couldn’t.
Twist Online : After a couple of failed collaborations you are stick with ICMG/2 Deep now. How is your experience with them so far?
JustReal : I’m still here Lol. Nah man they motivate me. I realized I don’t need a manager just direction in addition to being around people who don’t just believe in me but believe in my vision.
Twist Online : Tell us about your upcoming project “Reality Check”?
JustReal : It’s definitely not going to be like today’s R&B. My goal is to bring the late 90’s & early 2000’s to our current generation of music. I want people to know that REAL R&B is more than Club Music And Sex. Sometimes you have to pour your Heart Out On A Song.
Twist Online : You already have two mixtapes on your credit. Which one received a better response?
JustReal : Honestly the most recent One did. I was still very much young as an artist, but the records became very popular with my fanbase.
Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
JustReal : The studio is my sanctuary, but NOTHING beats the electric intense feeling a crowd gives you when you are on the stage. Performing all the way!
Twist Online : Are you influenced by any particular music genre?
JustReal : Gospel & R&B/Soul. I feel correlate to one another. Not to mention I grew up on gospel music. My parents brought me up in the church so I came from that.
Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve as a music artist?
JustReal : Just to be better than yesterday. I just want to be heard. Making money is cool but I want the people to hear me and feel me. I want every song and every performance to be an experience for them. I’ll be content with that.
