Interview with R&B artist Trae Morris

We are sharing our recent interview with a talented R&B artist Trae Morris.

Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Trae Morris : My name is Trae Morris, I’m an R&B artist with a love for music, a story, and a passion to touch people through my art, my music, and that story.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Trae Morris : I have always had the dream, but a series of events pushed me into believing it was possible. I met one person after another on this path that have either believed in me, encouraged me or provided a relationship that will help me reach my goals. It’s been a lot of networking, trial and error and perseverance. It’s not an easy industry to break into and I am putting forth the work to get where I want to be.
The who is Diddy & Chris Brown. A lot of people don’t know this but I see a lot of myself in him from a business stand point. I view myself as not only an artist but a business and a brand. He’s well rounded, he isn’t a one trick pony, he’s a mogul and that’s what I see for myself on the business side. Chris Brown artistically in my opinion is the best our generation has seen on a stage or in a studio. I study his art, his visuals, his stage presence, I can’t even go to his concert these days as just a fan it’s almost like doing homework. Where can I improve, where can I grow, what’s going to make Trae a better artist.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release ‘The Door’?
Trae Morris : The Door speaks from the male perspective of staying too long in a toxic relationship. You wake up and realize, I gave you every chance to get it right or leave but I’ve got to take this step for myself no matter what, my self-care is more important

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Trae Morris : Extremely positive, my supporters have told me countless times how they relate to the lyrics both male and female about how its real, and how it hits home. The sound, the style, the arrangement all have been met with nothing but positivity.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Trae Morris : That’s a tough question, I think they both have an equal place in my heart for different reasons. In the studio with my team creating, perfecting the sound, talking about the direction, that creative process is priceless and it makes me love the outcome even more. Stepping on stage brings a different part of me out, I can connect with my audience I’m there to visually tell a story, feel your energy, give you mine and make memories. It’s almost euphoric.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Trae Morris : Gospel, I grew up in the church, my love for Christ is at the core of who I am and where I strength comes from on days when I don’t have it in me.

Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Trae Morris: Yes, most definitely, I am planning to release Subconscious later this year, release a visual for the project and a loftier goal that I have is Charting billboard and breaking a million streams/sales as in independent artists is at the top of the long term goals.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Trae Morris: I’m working on effectively releasing my full EP later this year.  Also expanding Trae Morris apparel. I will also be working on a mini-series with KP productions that I am very excited about being a part of as it will aide in expanding my brand.
