Interview with singer and songwriter Aaron Beri
Australian-based singer song-writer, Aaron Beri is preparing to head home to Europe to showcase his debut album, Avalanche. We got an opportunity to interview him for our magazine. Sharing it with our readers here.
Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?
Aaron Beri : Even though I have been song writing for some time now, it was only 2 years ago that I stepped into a studio and started recording my songs. I was fortunate enough to have some positive encouragement from those around me, so I decided it was time to step up my efforts and produce an album.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Aaron Beri : I always turned to music to help navigate challenging times in my life and song writing became a way of expressing my deepest thoughts. Although I wasn’t inspired by any artist in particular I have always been moved by the way that music could make me feel.
Twist Online : Tell us about your debut album, Avalanche?
Aaron Beri : Avalanche is very much a concept album, it explores the highs and lows of a relationship. The first track on the album, Connected, is upbeat and romantic, but in later tracks there are themes of loyalty, loss, despair and hope. It’s like my own version of the 5 stages of grief, but with a catchy soundtrack. However, I certainly wouldn’t consider it a dark album because the music and vocals give it a warmth that people really respond to.

Twist Online : You wrote all the songs of the album? Was there any inspiration behind these tracks?
Aaron Beri : The themes that Avalanche explores are universal. Anyone that has experienced heartbreak in its various forms will find a song to relate to. I have drawn inspiration from my personal experiences, however there is no particular person to blame for the vibe of the album. (You know who you are). But in seriousness, there is more than one relationship represented on this record because I like to practice my mistakes.
Twist Online : All your tracks are nice but any particular track on the album that’s your favorite?
Aaron Beri : It may not be everyone’s favorite but the track ‘Stay’ is one that I have always loved. I wrote it the night before it was recorded and only spent a few hours putting it together in the studio. It’s dreamy but catchy and its simplicity is a reason why it came together so well.
Twist Online : What kind of response you have received?
Aaron Beri : Avalanche has been recently released and as a new artist I have been thrilled with people’s reaction. It seems to have really broad appeal, which was part of my intention. I released ‘Kingdom Falls’ as a single before the album and the response has been very positive, but particularly so in Europe.
Twist Online : Are you inspired of someone in the music industry?
Aaron Beri : It has to be the song writer ‘Diane Warren’. She has done everything from Aerosmith’s ‘Don’t wanna miss a thing’ to Toni Braxton’s ‘Unbreak my heat’. If I could be half the song writer she is I’d be very happy.
Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve?
Aaron Beri : Avalanche taught me an enormous amount about songwriting and production. Broadly speaking my main goal is to apply these skills to a new project. Specifically, however, I plan on releasing an EP and increasing the number of live performances I do in the near future.
Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Aaron Beri : I’m always writing new songs and have just got back into the studio to work on some singles and an EP. The sound, although not a massive departure of Avalanche, has evolved. I think you’ll find that the songs have more texture and you may even hear a collaboration or two.
