Interview with singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Timi Alexander

Timi Alexander is a 23-year old Finnish singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist living in London. Timi has written his first solo album ‘Timi Alexander’, the sound mostly takes influence from the 90s alternative rock and hip hop production, a combination that will further be explored on the future releases.We are sharing our recent interview with the artist.

Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?
Timi Alexander : I played in various smaller bands for years, also doing production on the side. A year or two ago I started taking my career prospects way more seriously.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Timi Alexander : Seeing my favourite bands live gradually got me more hooked on the thought.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recently released self titled Album “Timi Alexander”?
Timi Alexander : ’Timi Alexander’ is my eponymous debut album release, and I created the whole thing by myself, in my bedroom, earlier this year. It’s a peculiar but gripping ride with funny skits and songs that transcend genre boundaries. I feel like the album cover neatly sums up the mood of the thing.

Twist Online : Any particular track from the album, that’s your favorite?
Timi Alexander : I remain proud of ”The Ballad of a Keg Heart”, that song came to life surprisingly effortlessly.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Timi Alexander : The reception so far has been amazingly positive. Some people have found the album strange but nonetheless gripping, and frankly that’s exactly what I’ve been going for.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Timi Alexander : Both appeal to me in a different way. Right now I’m all about studio recording but I already now that once I get going with my live performing the way I want to, it will become the greatest thing in the world.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Timi Alexander : Depends on the mood, I rarely think in genres. Currently hip hop is my #1 musical diet.

Twist Online : Have you set some target to achieve as a music artist?
Timi Alexander : I aim to become a well-known name, to be able to write and perform without having to worry about finances.
