Interview with singer & Songwriter Projext

Today on our Hot Seat we have Projext from Dallas, Texas. Let’s have a chat with him.

Twist Online : What skills have you learned that will help you in your music career?
Projext : Tough skin. You have to have tough skin in any career that involves a following.

Twist Online : What made you decide to pursue a career in music?
Projext : When I was a teenager I used to skate with my friends and listen to punk rock, blink 182 was kind of the gate way into it all. I started teaching myself guitar and started writing songs. They were really shitty but got better.

Twist Online : Tell us about your track “DREAMS”.
Projext :I have a lot of friends who have moved to LA to aim for success as models and most of them ended up being cocktail waitresses or making only fans while trying to go to every party they could. I got nothing against girls who want to make money off only fans or in the clubs but I see a lot of girls give up on their original goal so I decided to write a song about it.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received so far?
Projext : I’ve had a lot of people tell me it’s the best song I’ve released, currently have some DJ’s working on remixes and am working on some collab remixes as well.

Twist Online : What kind of singer would you classify yourself as?
Projext : I see myself more as a songwriter, but for being a singer I’d say pop/hip hop is my main genre.

Twist Online : What has been the best performance of your career so far?
Projext :The best performance of my career so far is probably Breakaway Festival in 2018 where I opened for Lil Dicky and Rich the Kid. But the New Years show with Somo would probably come in close second.

Twist Online : How do you cope with being away from home for long periods?
Projext : As of right now I’ve been able to stay home (partially because of the pandemic) but I’ve taken a break from traveling to really focus on creating the best music I can right now. When I am on the road it’s important to keep in touch with friends and family, keeps me grounded.
