Interview with talented artist Rick Habana
Today on our Hot Seat we have music artist Rick Habana with us. Let’s have a chat with him.
Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your music career.
Rick Habana : My professional career started back in 2009 when I produced an album that received national distribution with Best Buy, back when they still sold CD’s, shortly after that, I got heavy into Music Licensing, doing music for TV and film.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Rick Habana : I started creating music as a young kid, My father loved creating music as well and so we would have musical instruments and drum machines around.
Since I picked music up so early, it has pretty much been apart of my life. As I got older, I simply decided to learn the business side of it as well.
Twist Online : Tell us about your recent release ‘Smooth it out’?
Rick Habana : “Smooth It Out” Is my first single as a Smooth Jazz artist. I was fortunate enough to work with Smooth Jazz legend Paul Brown on this recording.
The song has a little bit of a Sade feel and gives off a very cool/smooth vibe. The song is all live and will be released on March 6th, set for radio on March 9th.
Twist Online : What attracts you more, producing, writing, composing or editing ?
Rick Habana : I hate to not give you a clear cut answer but I love it all equally because it’s all part of the fun of creating a song. I start off with the production side first, when I produce a song that I feel has a strong vibe I’ll start writing the parts for the instruments and vocals. Then once I get the performances from my musicians I really zone in on the editing and prepare the song for the mixing and mastering stages.

Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music producer?
Rick Habana : Having your ideas come to light and sharing them with the world.
Twist Online : Have you set any goals to achieve?
Rick Habana : Yes, I would like to release multiple volumes of my project “The Collective”. Each volume will have a major Smooth Jazz feature on each project.
Twist Online : Our readers would like to know more about your forthcoming project “The Collective” ?
Rick Habana : “The Collective” is a Smooth Jazz project but also has a Lounge and Chill feel.
I have been fortunate to work with many musicians from around the world on this project.
