Today on our Hot Seat we have Up-and-coming Trap Pop and Spoken Word artist Athena G. with us. Let’s have a chat with her

Twist Online: First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Athena G.
: My name is Athena G. I am a creative artist and entrepreneur. I moved to Los Angeles 6 years ago to pursue my dreams. I started writing poetry and exploring music about 10 years ago after I divorced my goals of becoming a dentist. I started sampling beats and rapping poems I’ve written in my bedroom.

Twist Online: Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Athena G. :
I went through a breakup and after a series of self-sabotaging events I started writing like crazy. I had written so much and wanted to do something with it, I always wanted to create a musical album and write a book. Growing up I was always surrounded by music. I was first introduced to Frank Sinatra, then in middle school Nelly and Destiny’s child lol.

Twist Online: Tell us about your recent release “Zaddy”?
Athena G. :
Zaddy is actually based off a poem I wrote 10 years ago. It’s the story of your typical F boy. He’s attractive, charming and no good. The Zaddy guy I wrote about is a combination of boyfriends I’ve had in the past.

Twist Online: What kind of response you have received from the release?
Athena G. :
I released it on social media on August 16th, yesterday. So far it’s received a lot of traction on Instagram. Over 50 shares so far. It’s marked to be played on air in Las Vegas with DJ/Radio Host, A Ron Hosting Hot 975 Vegas, On Air with Aron. It will also be played amongst the local DJ circuit at various events and parties in Los Angeles.

Twist Online: What’s your favorite music genre?
Athena G. :
I have so many. My top favorites are Pop, Hip Hop, Jazz, and Electro-house.

Twist Online: What’s the best part of being a music artist?
Athena G. :
The best part about being a music artist is being able to express yourself and being able to be yourself.. if you allow.

Twist Online: Have you set some goals to achieve?
Athena G. :
Yes, I hope to release the entire EP spring of 2020. I hope to be on tour next year as well.

Twist Online: Are you working on any new project?
Athena G. :
No, just finished the EP so now it’s grind time

Thanks for taking the time to interview me!
