Jigga Jerry talks about his upcoming EP Blu Jay
Today on our Hot Seat we have a talented music artist Jigga Jerry with us. He is about to release his EP ‘Blu Jay’. The EP will be up for pre order on iTunes on Friday (November 24th), it will officially release December 1st on all streaming services. Let’s have a chat with him.
Twist Online : First of all introduce yourself to our readers?
Jigga Jerry : I go by the name of Jigga Jerry. Residing in New York City, Dyckman if we want to be exact lol.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Jigga Jerry : I knew I wanted to be an artist since I was 3. I didn’t take it serious up until my junior year of high school. But J. Cole was one of the main reasons why I wanted to do this for real. Cole was my idol growing up and the way I was able to connect with his music is how I wanted to connect with other people through mine. Music was the only and best way to channel my emotions and I would love to continue to do that for a very long time.
Twist Online : Tell us about your upcoming EP called Blu Jay?
Jigga Jerry : Well, Blu Jay will drop before the year ends. Blu Jay is about a recent time in my life where I completely lost myself. I’m digging deeper and touching on things I was going through behind the scenes.
Twist Online : Any particular track(s) you really enjoyed working on?
Jigga Jerry : I really enjoyed working on Blu Jay, which is the first track of the project. That studio session dictated the direction I was going in for the project. Other than Blu Jay, I enjoyed creating French Toast, because it was me stepping out of my comfort zone in how I projected my voice and the lyrics.
Twist Online : What kind of response you are expecting from the release?
Jigga Jerry : These days everyone’s a “rapper”. I just want to separate myself and have people really know who I am and what I want to do. Right now is about establishing myself and have people take me more serious and keep me in the conversation of upcoming artist ready to make an impact.
Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Jigga Jerry : The only reason I make music other than making something for people to connect to is to be able to perform my songs. I love performing, I like giving that energy and getting it right back. I feel like that is where you find the true value in your music.
Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Jigga Jerry : Other than HipHop/Rap music being my favorite I also enjoy listening to R&B. If I knew how to sing I would take the R&B route and not rap. I also stick to my roots as I still listen to bachata and merengue, music from back home in Dominican Republic.
Twist Online : Have you set some target to achieve as a music artist?
Jigga Jerry : Yes, I have. Other than wanting to be the best rapper in the game I want to one day reach a mogul status. I’m too competitive to just settle, I feel there’s always more out there.
