Julianna Joy releases new EP Cherries

Julianna Joy is releasing her EP, Cherries, today on Friday, Feb 14. So we interviewed here about the release.

Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your music career.
Julianna Joy :
The start of my career started when I was about 8-9. I started learning how to play guitar and piano in elementary school and was constantly writing stories. By the time I was in 5th grade, I was starting to write songs. I have my old song journal from that time period and though they’re exponentially bad, they were really good for 10. I fell in love with it and kept writing until i was 14 and decided I wanted this to be my permanent career. I started taking it very seriously and I think it paid off.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Julianna Joy :
Taylor swift inspired me! She was the whole reason I got a guitar in the first place. I wanted to be like her so badly.

Twist Online : You are releasing an EP ‘Cherries’on this valentines day? Tell us more about this
Julianna Joy :
I am! I’m releasing my debut Ep on valentine’s day. The ep centrals around the concept of how toxic love, especially young love, can be and how absentminded it all is before you figure out what you’re doing. Valentine’s day is so overrated, but I’m still a sucker for it so I chose it as the release day – it was not a coincidence!

Twist Online : Any particular track from the album that’s your favorite?
Julianna Joy :
Currently my favorite song is poseidon – it’s probably the most personal song I’ve ever put out, and the oldest. It was born in july of 2018 and was a popular one among all of my friends before i brought it into the studio. the person who it’s about, a good friend of mine and a musician as well, was the first one to hear it and for the longest time told me to release it. I wasn’t entirely sold on it because of how deeply distinct the song is to the person but once I recorded it and had my moment with it, I knew it would be stupid not to release it.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, Working in studios or performing on stage?
Julianna Joy :
STUDIO LIFE IS THE ONLY LIFE. there’s nothing like sitting on a worn out couch, shouting out ideas at each other, the in studio lunches and random conversations, the process of going through and recording harmonies. it’s such an intimate and intense process. I absolutely adore it. My fondest memories from 2019 were in the studio with dylan gardner, who was the executive producer and mixing engineer on this EP.

Twist Online : What’s the best part of being a music artist?
Julianna Joy :
The best part I think is releasing music and knowing that that is like your child, and the messages you get from random people all over the world telling me what it means to the.

Twist Online : Have you set any goals to achieve?
Julianna Joy :
I want to work with charli xcx and open for an artist in the next two years. I also want to meet jack antonoff and thank him for being a god at production.

Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
Julianna Joy :
Yes!!!! of course I am. I never stop writing, conceptualizing, contacting artists. It’s a habit. I’m a capricorn with a pisces moon. Work is my crack.
