Lets Meet A Multi-Talented Artist Chayah Miranda

Today in our interview section we will be interviewing a very talented artist Chayah (pronounced “kai-yah”) Miranda. You will surely love her conversation with us.

Twist Online : First Tell us a little about the starting of your music career.

Chayah Miranda : I come from a very musical family and have always  been around music my whole life. At an early age, my mother always had my siblings and I performing at church and at family parties. I then started singing at school talent shows, local fairs, at weddings, and at church. I was about seventeen when I was singing at an annual fair in San Francisco and met the very first producer, Erric Gonzaga, that I worked with.  We began writing songs, developing my sound and style and then recording them at his studio. I then started performing my original songs all over San Francisco. I also started writing songs for other artists as well. So that’s pretty much how I got started in my music career.

Twist Online : You have been attached to music since your early age. How much did it improved your music skills?

Chayah Miranda : From an early age, I would always hear my mom and my uncles singing jazz songs. I grew up listening to Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole, Frank Sinatra and all the classics. That style of music has really influenced how I sing and write songs today. I also grew up in the church so Gospel music and traditional hymn music was a big influence on my music and musical skills as well. I learned early on about beautiful lyrics, how to tell a story through song, and to really be able to write a good ‘hook’ (chorus). In my music, I try to create and implement all those elements into my songs.

Twist Online : Tell us about debut album “No Other Way” ?

Chayah Miranda : No Other Way is my first album. I love this album so much and am really proud of it. I love every single detail and part of it because I did put my whole heart and soul into this album. From the lyrics, to all the instrumentation, the musical arrangements, and even the album art itself, it’s all as I had envisioned and more. It’s a very personal album because 1) it’s my life’s long time dream come true and it’s a 2) a testimony of the experiences that I have gone through these past few years. I named the album “No Other Way” because one of the biggest lessons that I have learned in my life is that there really is ‘no other way’ to live a full, complete, joyful, meaningful, happy, and purposeful life than to have Jesus at the center and foundation of my life. I hope that everyone who listens to the songs from my album will be even more encouraged to find their purpose, their happiness, and joy in God.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite song in your album?

Chayah Miranda : This is a tough Question, but if I had to pick one, I’d say “Found In You”. When my producer and I started working on the album, he brought this song to me, and I just fell in love with it. I told him I had to record this song because it completely talks about what I had just gone through. When I first heard this song, it took me back to the moment when I surrendered to God and gave my heart to Jesus. It was while I was sick and bedridden. I couldn’t move or even walk, and I finally decided after a long time to let God into my life. I felt so much pain, guilt, and shame, yet when I gave Him my life, He took me under His loving care and really showed me that His love is never ending and that no matter what He still will always love me. I found myself, my true self in Jesus and that’s why I’d say ‘Found In You’ is my favorite song on my album.

Twist Online : Are you inspired of someone in music industry?

Chayah Miranda : Yes, for many years and ever since I can remember, Celine Dion has always been an artist in the music industry that has continued to inspire me. Her music is so beautiful and her dedication to her craft and to being a recording artist has always inspired me to want to be like her. Not only is she an amazingly talented vocalist and artist, but her love for her husband, her children, and family are also why she inspires me. Her family always comes first in all she does and that really speaks volumes of who she is as a person.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre and what’s the reason behind?

Chayah Miranda : Throughout my life the different kinds of music that I like to listen to has changed. Today, I listen to a lot of Gospel music. I love the message of the songs, the musical arrangements and how it really does feed my soul and spirit, and it keeps me grounded in my faith. I also still love jazz and even pop music. Some fun pop music is always good! Classical music is also one favorite genres to listen to. Whenever I’m feeling a bit stressed out, classical music clears my mind and relaxes and gives me that sense of peacefulness that I need, Beethoven especially. His music is so amazing!

Twist Online : What’s your goal in life you want to achieve next?

Chayah Miranda : The next goal in my life that I’d like to achieve next would be to help children here in the United States, the Philippines, and eventually in as many countries as I can with giving them the opportunity for music education. Unfortunately, when a school has to make a budget cut, the music program is usually one of the first to be cut out of the schools. So I’d like to give children the opportunity to study music, to learn their craft, and to give them the resources and education they need to become the musicians, the men and women that they aspire to one day be.

Twist Online : Any new project you are working on? When it will be released?

Chayah Miranda : I am currently working on my music foundation for children, and I’m also working on my fashion line, my book, and my next album. So there’s definitely a lot that I’m working on. I’m really excited about all the projects that I’m working on and can’t wait till they are out! I don’t have specific release dates yet, but just stay tuned. They will be coming out very soon!
