Twist Online : Please introduce yourself to our readers.
Jaypeezy : I’m Jaypee Donesa, I’m a rapper coming from Stockton, CA. I’ve been making music for about 3 years now and I go by Jaypeezy.
Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
Jaypeezy : Like other artists, other talents have influenced me to start making music. Rappers like Felipe Coronel (Immortal Technique), Slug (Atmosphere), Lupe Fiasco, J Cole, etc. I like how they orchestrate their music and where they don’t care of what people say about them. It shows a lot of who they really are.
Twist Online : Tell us about your recently released “the most versatile album”?
Jaypeezy : Of course, I’ve recently dropped an album with the title as “God Loves Ugly”. Those who know Slug would immediately know where that came from. This album was inspired by many artists that I look up to. Some include Method Man, Wyclef, Lil Wayne and many more. As we all know Hip-Hop is known to have many branches such as Lyrical Rap, Underground, Trap, RnB, and many more. I myself like all these different styles, so I said why not be versatile and make tracks of who I really am. Every track sounds different from each other. The flow, beat, and the feeling of every song.
Twist Online : What kind of response it has received so far?
Jaypeezy : I dropped the album in January and so far so good. I wasn’t expecting a lot of people to understand and love my music, but i was wrong. My fans say that i’m different and that’s what they like about me. I have about 3,000+ monthly listeners on Spotify alone and about 1,800 followers from the time that I’ve dropped my album. I mean you gotta start somewhere right.
Twist Online : What do you enjoy more performing on stage or working in studios?
Jaypeezy : Both are 2 total different things believe it or not. The stage is an amazing feeling like no other. The crowd listens, your music blasting, and you gain fans. But the studio is my throne. That’s where the magic happens and where ideas come to place. Many people can perform their music, but not everyone can lay it down in the studio. A lot of rappers want to make it so they try and perform what they wrote. But the studio defines whether you’re serious about this dream or not. With all this competition nowadays, you wanna be able to prove everyone that you know your sh*t.
Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Jaypeezy : I love music in general. But of course Hip-Hop and Rap.
Twist Online : Have you set some goals to achieve as a music artist?
Jaypeezy : I’m trynna make it. Dream big right? Im trying to show the world who and what Jaypeezy is all about. My team already knows whats up.
Twist Online : Are you working on any new project?
