Lets Meet Brent from Canadian duo Tripsonix

Today on our Hot Seat we have a talented artist Brent from the Canadian duo Tripsonix.

Twist Online : First of all please introduce yourself to our readers.
Brent : My name is Brent and I’m the vocalist and guitarist for Tripsonix.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to launch Tripsonix?
Brent : We we’re in a band in the late 90’s that was on the cusp of signing a deal with a major label. Unfortunately it fell through, and the band fell apart soon after. I had a ton of songs that I had written and so I challenged myself. I wanted to see if I could record a three song demo with just myself playing all the instruments and singing all the vocals. A year later I asked my best friend Jason To join me on stage for a show and that was it. We released our first album in 2003.

Twist Online : Any reasons or inspiration behind the name ‘Tripsonix’?
Brent : Originally I had thought of Tripsonic, which I thought sounded cool, but we realized there was already a band with that name. Jay changed it to Tripsonix when he designed the logo.

Twist Online : Tell us about your latest album “Sounds From The Electric City” ?
Brent : It’s basically a love letter to our hometown of Peterborough, Canada, which is known as The Electric City.

Twist Online : Any particular track(s) of the Album you would recommend our readers as “Must Listen track(s)” ?
Brent : for sure the title track “Electric City”, “Meant For Me” which I wrote for my wife. We love “Walk The Walk” and “Listen”. Oh, and “The Comedown” is really fun to play live!

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
Brent : It’s been fantastic. We did a pre-release on iTunes and it did extremely well. I think because the last album “Betrayal” did so well; people figured this one had to be good. I don’t know.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
Brent : I love the creative energy of recording. It’s awesome when it comes together and we create something new that we love. But performing live is the biggest high you can ever get. Getting on stage feels natural to us and it’s great to see people digging our stuff. The audience throws this energy at us and we amplify it and throw it back at them.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
Brent : We pretty much listen to everything, especially new sounds we haven’t heard before. Those artists are what we really enjoy.
