Let’s meet very talented and inspiring ‘U-G’

U-G is an Indianapolis based artist originally born in East Africa in a country called Uganda born in the city of Kampala. He has been building a major national buzz. “Liquor Talk” alongside DJ GNO and “Slayed” feat Aron Easton  are his latest releases. We are sharing our recent interview with him.

Twist Online : First of all tell us about the start of your professional career?
U-G : I was on a football scholarship to play at the U of I when I started hustling my music to all the college kids. We did shows around the city and was traveling state to state which gave me some opportunity. I got to travel with artist like smoke dza, juicy j, 2 chainz, joey bada$$, Big Krit, fat trel and more. I ended up dropping out of college to pursue music.

Twist Online : Who or what inspired you to get into music industry?
U-G : I was born and raised in Uganda which is located in East Africa. My father was in a band and used to do shows around our city. Music has always been a big part of my family from church, house parties and dancing. The culture of Africa is Music it’s how we express ourselves.

Twist Online : Tell us about your recent releases “Liquor Talk” and “Slayed”?
U-G : Liquor talk came along when I met DJ GNO who is now a good friend of mine. DJ GNO has been killing the DJ scene for a while nationally he is one of the top tier DJs in the city. He wanted to do a record with a artist which so happened to be me and we made a smash. The record is slowly climbing and will be nationally known soon. Slayed came to me while I was in Hawaii on vacation going through beats. I knew the record needed a singer on it so I called Singer/song writer A’ron Easton to lay the hook for me. A’ron is also another super talented artist who you should check out he’s dope. Slayed took the internet by storm almost a thousand people shared, viewed and commented on the video. It’s also on YouTube go check it out the video was shot by crisscon. I also released a record called “On Me” feat Teeklef & Rasta Zi’Lion which is doing great as well.

Twist Online : What kind of response you have received from the release?
U-G : The responses have been amazing and still growing. It’s feels good to ride around the city and catch fans listening to your music organically. A couple years back I never heard my music in clubs. Now when I go out I hear my music it’s a great feeling.

Twist Online : What attracts you more, performing on stage or working in studios?
U-G : I enjoy both it’s all part of the process to me. It’s like working out once you get to see the results you enjoy the process more. I believe every aspect of making music is enjoyable. It’s art and as a artist I take pride in all of it.

Twist Online : What’s your favorite music genre?
U-G : Honestly I like all kinds of music so that’s hard to pick. I’m inspired by different genres to make hip hop also and vice versa so really If I had to answer hip hop off course lol. I like that bounce and you know hip hop stay with the bounce.

Twist Online : Have you set some target to achieve as a music artist?
U-G : Right now I’m just focused on growing my fan base. I feel like once my fan base grows some more and I get a chance to be on the right platforms everything else will fall in place

Twist Online : Are you currently working on any other project?
U-G : I’m working on my project “U-G” which will have all these records and more. This is my best work yet and will show me as a artist.
